Thanks for the replies everyone, GPU upgrade seems like a good option for now.

For those of you with 1070s, is there a stand out card amongst them and will one of them be enough for 1440p further down the road?

It should be more than enough for most games at 1440p , remember the 970 came last year (2015)? it is basically a really good 1440p card.

The 1070 is similar in performance to a 980ti which is a lot

As for brands, all of them are good really, the performance difference is usually as marginal as the price range, meaning 1% - 2% mostly because of the clock speed the manufacture is confident to put out

If so I prefer EVGA or Asus because they always have nice cooling

I would get a 1070 and call it a day, the 3570k is a great CPU

In games you will get nothing in a practical sense by getting a skylake set up

I know dx12, vulkan, cpu over head, multi thread... bla bla... GPU is still your main bottleneck, This won't change anytime soon

I played for 40 mins, it gave me a headache, specially if you point out with your head

Bummer

The more I think about it the more afraid I'm to buy into VR, the idea to pay money to feel sick doesn't really rock my boat

Do like

  • Best Battlefield since Bad Company 2
  • Good map design
  • Destruction is again meaningful
  • I enjoy the setting a lot
  • Feels smoother, BF4 always felt clunky to me
  • Operations 40 players is pretty cool, 60 is a bit of a clusterfuck
  • I like the progression system, puzzles are neat
  • Campaign is alright, but a bit cheesy (I mean given the subject matter but still)

Personally speaking, I'm feeling the Battlefield magic again ; ) BF4 was alright but it felt slow, bloated and clunky, it never caught me like Bad Company or BF2 did. So far Battlfield 1 is doing alright in my book

Tried PSVR in a friend's house, as impressive as VR can be, I'm holding my horses a year or two

Everything VR seems like a super expensive early access right now

Been burned before by novelty in the pass "looking angry at you kinect"

If VR is the "next major computing platform" as Zuckerberg claim, i'll be there... right now, I'm in no hurry

@zombievac: I mean pretty much agree with everything you say, there is a convenience vs the real value of actually owning a game

For me is just that at this point I have a 8hrs a day job, I don't buy nor play that many game these days

I pretty much know what I want to play, it used to be that if I was unsure of a game I bought it on a disc, now I just don't buy it

That thing people say when you have money you don't have time and vice versa... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
