Wow....I had absolutely no idea what I was getting into when I started this thread....but it's good to hear such varied opinions that are justified in their own way:)

I suppose if SE were to keep producing the RPGs that we love, this move becomes a necessity....else their NEXT Final Fantasy could very well have become their FINAL Fantasy...kinda like how they began the franchise in the first place.
Regardless of whether we resort to multiple discs on the 360 or HD installs on the PS3, I think it's safe to assume that the experience on both will be near identical if not exactly. How many of use are going to actually play both versions of the game and produce our own version of IGN's Head-to-head? I think not, we probably have better things to do, like playing the game for that matter.

I know I might sound like one of the corporate big wigs when I say this, but it's true...at the end of the day, the consumer wins (provided we have the cash to foot).
Maybe my comparison leaves a lot to be desired, but I tend to hearken this to say for example.....Diablo 2 (or any Blizzard game for that matter) on the PC and Mac---it's just which platform we choose to go with.
Yeah we have fond memories of Final Fantasies on the PSX but it's all cyclical depending on the state of the industry. I think we need to also bear in mind the fact that at least SE didn't pull a FF VII on us...that is to say, back in the day when they announced that they were going to shift support full steam for the newly announced PSX platform instead of Nintendo's.....it could have been uglier folks....much much uglier.

About time somebody came up with it so here goes. I'm looking for inspiration in terms of my setup and would like to get started someday on this long process. So Bombers, please if possible do post pics (or links to pics) of your setup so that we can all learn from each other. This obviously isn't  restricted to just the setup alone, but even overall ambiance of the room and all that jazz in fact. Let's try to keep this ongoing folks!

Hey folks,
so I've been debating and waiting, and debating and waiting.....doesn't look like the PSone classics are going to have any new titles added to their ranks anytime soon. Hence, I have decided to go with what they have on offer to download. For now, I think Castlevania SOTN is a worthwhile piece to have on my PSP. But is there really anything else? I sort of liked Crash Bandicoot, but I can remember only finishing Crash 3....same goes for Spyro. I have this tugging inside that wants to get Spyro, but in reality I'm not sure how I'm going to react to it after all these years. It's been so long since I played them.....can anyone just provide me with some suggestions on what I should d/l from the limited offering at the US PSN store?

So I hope I don't need to link to any other source that mentions what happened with FFXIII during E3 08. I personally believe that bringing the title to the 360 was probably a sensible decision on SquareEnix's part from a monetary standpoint especially. Announcing this for the 360 in no way indicates that PS3 owners won't be getting their FF fix either. But I can understand their ire when they coin this act as "betrayal" or whatever.

However, if I'm not mistaken SE said that they will begin development on the 360 version once the PS3 one is done. Moreover, Japan won't be seeing a 360 version, so it remains a Sony exclusive at least in Japan. This obviously, combined with the fact that the translated title is supposed to launch in the US simultaneously (not sure about EU, please correct me here if I'm wrong) on both platforms suggests that the PS3 version might just be needing translation. So the only thing KEEPING the PS3 title from launching earlier than expected is Square Enix's comittment to releasing the 360 version alongside it.

So...my guess is that those who wanted to buy the PS3 JUST for FFXIII alone and already own a PS3 will obviously go for the version on Sony's console. However, those who have yet to buy either console....or even own both for that matter might be on the fence for a while depending on their respective preference. The Sony devotee will do as expected and likewise for the 360.

What does stick out though is that BECAUSE of SE's decision this will prevent a phenomena akin to that of Metal Gear Solid 4's from happening. That is to say, potential buyer's of the PS3 who were waiting for this title's release ALONE will instead just opt for the 360 version assuming they own the 360 at that point in time. Heck it's the cheaper of the two consoles anyways, so why not go for that? To make a long story short, it's not the fact that Sony lost an exclusive here....it's how whatever deal went down is going to affect Sony's potential sales of the PS3 at the title's LAUNCH.

As 1UP mentioned, I eagerly await Square's announcement during the upcoming SquareEnix party which is said to "swing the ball in Sony's favor again", just to see what further angle this tug of war assumes.

Fellow bombers....your thoughts please.

Okay maybe I made the topic sound a tad too dramatic here but I actually meant something a lot different...yet similar.
So it's barely been 24 hours since GiantBomb went live and needless to say (until the powers that be at GB produce exact figures) the response has been overwhelming indeed. One need only look at Ryan's status (as of writing this post) where he succintly summarises his reaction as "speechless". Fellow bombers I propose that we all work together to make not only the database/content at GiantBomb grow, but to nuture the forums in such a manner that we give every other such forum, namely the likes of NeoGAF and what not, more than a good run for their money. We all know that the founders of GiantBomb have initiated something good here, something that could potentially develop into an entity that is far greater than where it stands today at launch (which by itself is not something to laugh at mind you)......so let's all work together to make that a reality. What say you all?

I think later, as GB develops, they should include something in our profiles along the lines of "Alignment History"...what say you all?
That way we can stake our claim for the generations/console wars of  past.

I only wish a point comes when even more GS users, infuriated that the threads got locked, just leave GS period. Then forum activity should come down to a laughable near zero, thereby virtually slapping GS in the face.
I didn't even visit them for my E3 fix....only realized that just now. The Jeff, The Ryan, The Brad and The Vinny deserve to laugh maniacally now.
