EpicSteve: Best of 2009

  • I haven't played such a tight well-paced game since, well...I don't know. If you would have told me last year a Batman game (I'm not even into Batman beyond the movies) would be my 2009 GOTY, I would of called you insane. This just goes to show any game can be a real gem and we shouldn't judge before playing.

  • Modern Warfare 2 offers some of the best multiplayer around. That combined with it's spec-ops mode and solid singleplayer makes it a must have.

  • I'm a huge fan of Resident Evil, and Resident Evil 5 kinda disappointed me with some design choices and for ditching the "what are ya' buyin?" merchant seen in RE4. With all that aside, RE5 delivers some awesome co-op action. I've never played a game that truly encouraged and rewarded me for playing multiple time.

  • Uncharted 2 is all about big-ass production values, and it totally works. Naughty Dog's latest is a well crafted roller-coaster ride riddled with edge of your seat action, and John Mclain-style beating to our protagonist.

  • Molding together genres is risky business, however, Borderlands accomplishes this goal probably better than any game before it. I really hated the lifelessness the environment had, but hey, I can't resist fat loot!

  • This is possibly one of the most well-crafted music games out there. It's artistic flare combined with an impressive track make this a no-brainer for Beatles fans, or music fans in general.

  • No game out there stresses me out like Left 4 Dead. The game's white knuckle action is unmatched, and Left 4 Dead 2 is one of the best co-op games in town.

  • inFAMOUS introduced us to a new comic book-style world. The game's hero has fun abilities and can pull off some incredibly awesome moves. This game screams for a sequel to further develop its mechanics.

  • I was really skeptical of Killzone 2. This game doesn't have any outstanding notes other than well-crafted action. I guess sometimes, that's all you need.

  • Oh my, oh my. This game is my guilty pleasure. 50 Cent's over the top action and loud presence is something truly to be behold. I couldn't recommend this game to anyone by any means. Sometimes stupid stuff is just as awesome as anything else. Games are all about fun, right?
