Games that I need more information on, so that I can decide whether or not I should purchase them on the Xbox 360

List items

  • God damn. This game looks like shit, every review decry's it as shit, but Jeff Gerstman has made one exception. It is exactly the type of story you want to hear if your interested in crazy spy stories. I have to rent this first.

    DEMO NOT PLAYED

  • Looks okay. Reviews are not great on controls, and I'm not a fighting game kinda guy. Much platforming too that's uninteresting. But the memory remixing looks pretty damn sweet. Also, FANTASTIC musical scores. End result: could turn into a "Meh." pretty quickly.

    DEMO NOT PLAYED

  • Rough around the edges according to the quick look, but it looks and seems to have all the interesting bits and pieces. Survival focus, persistent death, long running story, multiple playable characters, relationship interaction, crafting... got daymn!

    DEMO NOT PLAYED

  • Dragon's Dogma looks good, plays well, but has a bunch of rough typical capcom style issues. That being said, if I get Dragon's Dogma, it's not going to be the original, it should be the updated, full DLC release called Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen

    DEMO LIGHTLY PLAYED: Seemed decent

  • DEMO NOT PLAYED

  • Newest Harmonix release. Might be better on XBone

    DEMO NOT PLAYED

  • ... eeeeehhhhh?

    DEMO NOT PLAYED

  • Legitimate Tactical shooter, has horde mode, custom missions, gun customization, and solid multiplayer.

    DEMO NOT PLAYED

  • Superior to the original according to reviewers, however, it has a short campaign.

    DEMO NOT PLAYED

  • Game had neat squad based elements, but turned me off very badly at not being a true "tactical" shooter, and was really just a "modern" shooter using the Ghost Recon name. Which is what Ubisoft did with Rainbow Six as well. The Convoy mission where you escort vehicles on foot from anti-vehicle infantry was extremely frustrating and turned me off of the the franchise. I'll give it one more shot and assume I was being overly defensive of my old "tactical" shooter dreams.

DEMO PLAYED: GIVING IT ONE MORE CHANCE

  • Is the sequel to Hot Pursuit, and is also a Criterion game. Supposedly might not be superior. Play the demo first

    DEMO NOT PLAYED

  • Criterion attempts to save Need for Speed... buy making it Burnout: Hot Pursuit. That being said, is it really any better than Paradise? Play the demo first.

    DEMO NOT PLAYED

  • Played the demo for a little and it was fun, simple, and pretty action adventure. A little linear, and reviews have it as being repetitive near the end.

GIVE THE DEMO ONE MORE TRY

  • Well reviewed sniping game that is a little difficult and has great single, bad multiplayer. However, user reviews are far more mixed. Clearly this game could become ugly frustrating but that might just depend on the person. Demo play is a must

    DEMO NOT PLAYED

  • Another WW2 sniper game, but this one actually is passable. Although it was reviewed as being kind of flawed, the user scores are higher. Again, this is a game that must be demo played first

    DEMO NOT PLAYED

  • I thought that the gameplay in this game (on x360) was kinda boring. The computer only swarmed infantry and there were no usefull defenses besides your own swarms of infantry back. Making silly battles and a completely unused tech-tree and unused powers and units. Decided to put it down after that. However, the game is getting harder and harder to find. There is a real demand for this game beyond fanboism. Better give this another try

DEMO PLAYED: GIVE IT ANOTHER TRY

  • A Loot and progress focused Action RPG made for LOTR fans. Allies that can't be recovered, swarms of kamakazie bad guys, poor checkpoint system, and the dreaded: knock down attacks, mean that gameplay design is too archaic for my tastes. Also, not a Tolkien fan.

    REJECTED

  • Allegedly Open World assassination gameplay similar to AC.

    Release Date: October 2014

  • Pinnacle of the Dirt Franchise. While Grid 2 is kind of a weird mix of Arcade and Sim, it doesn't look like it provides the kind of sim thrill that I'm looking for in Forza 4. However, Dirt always was different. It's gorgeous and an arcade/sim racer like Grid, but it's rally, entertainment, it's weather effects, it's night time racing, it's off road racing, it's capture the flag multiplayer modes and more. Forza, Burnout, and Dirt probably make the total driving experiance.

    DEMO NOT PLAYED

  • Although not open world, it is a apparently nicely written and fun action adventure game that uses the varying art-styles, play-styles, and environments to it's advantage. Looks promising, doesn't seem like a substitute for Web of Shadows, which is open world.

    DEMO NOT PLAYED

  • Good Spiderman game with fun web swinging and okay combat. However, this combat does get repetitive after a while. Replay value is low.

    GAME BEATEN

  • Game removes the "stick to building" aspect of web slinging, combat seems a little more varied, but there are spaces where spiderman is confined.

  • The last of the skate franchise so far, and the only surviving legitimate skateboard game out. It's years ahead of Skate 1, which even I thought was throughly enjoyable. Has lots of user generated content, and a custom skate park maker (forge mode), giving it good replayability. Definitely worth a play through.

    DEMO NOT PLAYED

  • You can move and shoot now, but all signs point to this game being mediocre, like a more fast paced RE4. Haven't played the demo yet, maybe ought to go and play it with Z.

    DEMO NOT PLAYED

  • This game is clearly madness, with a crazy story and good combat, but has absolutely ZERO replayability. Additionally occasional camera issues and weird movement of player character. This might be a game that you rent and beat, rather than own.

    DEMO NOT PLAYED

    SUGGEST RENT, NOT BUY.

  • Critics agree: it's controls and camera are shit. Gamers revolt: it's controls aren't that bad, and the camera is fine. Everyone agrees: load times are bad (unless you download to hard drive). Pretty divisive. Play the demo

    DEMO NOT PLAYED

  • Of all the recent Silent Hill games, this one is the one that is probably the best. But it might actually come across as a little combat heavy. If it does, it'll have the same problem FEAR had. Not being scary at all.

    DEMO NOT PLAYED

  • This is a 505 Game production so it's pretty hit or miss. Considering there are almost no reviews for this game, it seems pretty solidly a miss. Might be just easier to pass this one up and play Battlestations Pacific.

    REJECTED

  • Last of the legends series, best in the franchise. It's the best your gonna get for these.

  • Long JRPG with convoluted story, but it has an extremely tactical form of gunplay. It might not be a useful game to demo, it might be best to actually watch a true play through instead.

  • An improvement on Rayman: Origins in every way. Including taking levels from Rayman Origins as unlockables. It is a beautiful and frantic 2-d platformer, that looks like its probably good to buy and definitely good to rent.

    DEMO NOT PLAYED

    DEF. RENT

  • A good tactical shooter with exceedingly bad AI, but is much more competent when playing with other people. Question is, is there anyone else playing the damn game? You will need to play the demo for sure.

  • Same problem as Dragon Rising. A solid tactical shooter with shit AI. Multiplayer is essential, however, I have no idea if anyone is online.

  • An apparently fun and violent Open world crime game that proves that Vinny is a bit of a psychopath. Minimum rent, probably buy

  • Surprisingly, the best shooter of the franchise. It's competent but not necessarily special, play the demo or rent first

    DEMO NOT PLAYED

  • Okay so... this is weird. Heavy combat focused RPG with hints of Fable 1 kind of arcadey combat, but a much more bland atmoshpere and world. But apparently combat that is one of the best of ANY RPG. Biggest downside seems to be everything that isn't the main quest line. The only thing that people seem to all agree on for sure, is that the game is NOT bad. Apparently, this is a game that the demo doesn't help, nor does the quick look. Pick up and play and put 5 hours into it and we'll see where we are.

    NEED TO RENT

  • It's definitely a good arcadey stunt racer. There's just not much to do besides that and it might not have the lasting appeal that I care about, especially when contending with Dirt and Burnout Paradise's DLC...

  • A solid, but simplistic platformer that has some surprises in it's level design and artistry, but is extremely short. This one might be fun to rent and play once... and then never see again.

    SUGGEST RENT

  • I licensed Disney movie about gerbils. And yet somehow the game was fun and appealing. Turns out it tends to get a little repetitive after a while, but it's definitely worth a play through.

    DEMO PLAYED

    SUGGEST RENT TO FINISH

  • Tough call. The game is a heavy story and dialogue focus RPG that has some very good RPG ideas and skills related to deities, but it's got some bad design choices like having no hud, not having a map on-screen, and making combat not very complicated. Very weird, but maybe good?

RENT FIRST: GIVE IT 5 HOURS.

  • Terrible name, but it was actually pretty decent originally, dinosaur killing and all. The question is whether it aged well. As practically a x360 launch title... probably not. Also, 1000 GP points.

    PLAY DEMO... IF ONE EXISTS

    PROBABLY RENT

  • Mindless angry orc smashing fun. But eventually gets a little dull and repetitive. Probably something you play in pieces rather than all at once.

  • An on-rails Kinect shooter that doesn't suck!

  • Budget priced puzzle and detection game. Pretty good actually, beware pixel hunting, you might need a cheat guide.

    (Quick look available)

    DEMO NOT PLAYED

  • The better of the two franchise games. It's not at all realistic, and is a very arcadey flier, but it has a lot of planes, it is kinda pretty and features a AC-130 mission. So, there's a plus, if only for that.

  • Apparently a very fun arcade demolition derby game. That I can't seem to care about.

    DEMO NOT PLAYED

  • They told me it doesn't suck and it's not an arcade racer. I don't believe them on either count because it sure as hell looks like one, and I thusly can not bring myself to care.

    DEMO NOT PLAYED

  • Very cinematic with shallow gameplay. Might be worth the fun and scenery, for a cheap thrill

    DEMO NOT PLAYED

  • Doesn't seem that bad, but get a new one so you can have a port of the original. Could be more stable on the x360 than PC, but it might be prettier on the PC.

  • Not true to the old castlevania style and takes a lot from modern action games, but it doesn't make this not bad. In fact it is apparently quite good, although it has a broken camera. Definitely suggest a rent

    DEMO NOT PLAYED

  • Warning: Boring and drab stealth and modern sequence of the game attempts to bring down the action before the fun really starts. This is a game that if you are going to play, you'll have to play all the way through. If you liked the first one, you'll like this one.

    DEMO NOT PLAYED

  • It's more of a shooter about challenge missions rather than grand story. But it's still a good Gears game. If you care, which I might not.
