I like how he is sure there isn't going to be another delay or problems either. I don't think TL 2 is going to have issues but I also don't presume otherwise either. Best laid plans and all of that...
I've been found out! And I would have gotten away with it too if it wasn't for you pesky kids!
But I do give points for mentioning Titan Quest. That game and expansions seemed to be at all of the wrong places at all of the wrong times and relegated to obscurity on release.
Yeah I'm not sure how one can compare these games because the vague genre distinction especially when one of them has not been released. I'm not sure why any of this is "so obvious".
As much as I love me a new hack + slash + dungeon + crawling, I have a suspicion that as much as I love Diablo 3 I won't consider it one of the big games of the year. That doesn't mean it isn't a good or fun game but something really surprising has to be in there to really stand out.
I think it is also fascinating how much people use their hatred of DRM when it turns out to be another issue. The behavior and problems I've taken note of seems more like Battlefield 3 with having BL go weird at launch where there were enough people who just couldn't play online because BL didn't work correctly out of the box. Of course this highlights that both shouldn't have arranged their systems with their point of failures like that.
@frankfartmouth: And I too don't mean to downplay anyone's problems or issues. We should always take vendors to task when they promise something but don't deliver but I am frankly surprised that I saw or encountered none of the issues others are screaming about. Everything worked on the first try, ran it for hours before calling it a night. No crashes, disconnects, hiccups. I was ready to do the "big bad release slog" where I'd spend most of the night installing, trying to access the latest patches and applying multiple updates, trying to get authenticated, trying to create a new character and a game while constantly being disconnected and forced to start over...but none of that didn't happen to me.
