@cagliostro88@mike: Yeah, I was surprised to see it come out on GOG, but that is my "platform" of choice now that Galaxy has been released. :)

@jesus_phish:Yeah, I think the same... Though I personally want the art book and PC version...

@asilentprotagonist: The $60 price tag surprised me, for PC. I expected $50.

It's getting a physical release too. And a limited edition release.

The limited edition comes in a steelcase, with a comic, an art book, a theme and a "starter set". The starter set is something that I think is a bit weird, not something I saw coming with this game. What do the boosts to your ship do? Will this game end up having some sort of microtransaction shop selling boosters and ships?

I'll give them this, that design is pretty great.

So, that's PS4 exclusive, and this crazy edition is PC exclusive?:

@anund@onyxghost:

There are obviously a lot of factors to still having time for games after having a kid. When my first kid was born, I played more games in her first 2-3 months of life than for a year or so before, mainly because I was so anxious for her arrival that I could hardly play games before she was born- I just read books about having kids and child development...

I had a second kid 14 and a half months after the first... And he didn't sleep as well. So, even though I was playing some games some evenings, I usually didn't have the energy.

Also, my job is very demanding. People with less demanding jobs will have more time for games. I also currently don't do much of anything else with my free-time. People that do other stuff or have a more active social life will obviously have less to no time for games.

Finally, I cringe when I hear people talk about playing games with their little children in the room (*cough* Jason *cough*). Study after study shows how bad it is for children. It is bad for their eyes. It is bad for their speech development. It is bad for their brain/mental development. It is bad for helping them make sense of the world.

So, to wrap up, it is just all so based on your individual life and priorities. I often struggle with how much of my time and identity I have wrapped up in gaming, considering I don't work in the industry, but that's also a very personal thing that I don't think everyone should share. :D

How is gaming on Android now? How is parity with iOS regarding availability of games?

I've been holding out to buy a new iPad, as my iPad 3 is getting very old now. A new iPad Air is rumored to be announced and released early this year, but I'm now wondering if I should just go the Android route, as I am an Android phone user and would never switch to an iPhone.

The only reason I own an iPad now is actually just to have access to iOS apps and games that didn't come over to Android, as that was always significant even a couple years ago.

So, anyway, I'd love to hear from anyone regarding how the Android market is now and opinions on going Android for my next Tablet, knowing that I'm going to want to play some mobile games that don't come to PC.

Thank you!!

This is exactly my reasoning for also voting for Firewatch. :D

Firewatch, bang it out in a couple sittings and then you are onto something else off the list

Plus since it's a story based game you lessen your chance of getting spoiled.

Hello, all.

I've been trying to remember an online PC "game" that I played as a youngin' in the mid nineties (in the United States - though I couldn't tell you if this game was available in other parts of the world).

It was more of an online community - for kids, from what I remember, but it was a 2D, cartoony game where people could jump around with others online, and I feel like I remember there being some platforming or puzzles of sorts...

From what I remember, this is around the time I played through and loved the Twinsen games. I also made some friends at that time, and we used to chat on ICQ.

Thanks for any help provided!

There is a lot of good advice in this thread, but a lot of it is really so personal and subjective and based on you as a person. I'm the type of person that feels compelled to finish games I start, and I feel compelled to play more games than I have time for, because I like stories and narrative.

However, after having two kids, a job that takes more of my time, just needing to do more besides games, and wanting to spend more time with music again, these are the two things that are helping me (though it is still hard...):

1.) Set a monetary budget and don't break it. Make it monthly, weekly, quarterly, whatever - as long as you stick to it...

2.) Setup a plan for playing the games and stick to it. I'm creating 6 game "To Play" lists (the one I'm finishing now: http://www.giantbomb.com/profile/fakekisser/lists/fakeys-2nd-2016-to-play-list/355655/). By sticking to lists like this, I have held off on buying new games, because I know I won't be playing them anytime soon, since I'm prioritizing all the other games I've already bought!

3.) Setup a time budget for playing games in your life. Again, it could be daily, weekly, or whatever, but try to balance your life so you do have time for playing games and feel like you're investing in the hobby the way you want but also spending time in other important areas of your life. When you can see how your time breaks down, you may appreciate more the time you spend in all the areas of your life.

:D

I am another person that bought this game for really cheap and never got around to playing it. I installed it today after hearing the news of it being shutdown and played an hour of it today. I'll probably put a few more hours into it, but I really can't even hope to finish the campaign before March 1st, and as others have said, I'm not sure it really is worth my time, in the end...

Still, I hate that it will be unplayable after March 1st... But, really, it's going to be cracked, right, as other games have with online components that get shutdown, right?
