I've been wanting to play this for a couple years now, and I'm happy I waited. However, as much as I want to buy this game, I can't justify it with the other RPG's I'm already in the middle of and need to finish before getting in the middle of another one (Witcher 3, Fallout 4, Fallout: New Vegas, Bravely Default, Dragon Age: Inquisition)...

I am still hoping someone puts up the money to rerelease these games so they are easier to play (i.e. on PC or a modern console). I admit I have been afraid to go back to the games. They meant so much to me when I played them. I play both of them basically straight through (except for food breaks). The only games over 3-4 hours in length that I have ever done that for. However, that was nearly 20 years ago, at this point... I do still think I'll like them, but I know I'll get annoyed by things that didn't bother me as much before - my biggest concern being the pacing... I loved the pacing when I first played them. It felt deliberate and "real" in a way. However, I'm a busier person now and am more used to faster paced games, even in RPG's.

I will play Shenmue 1 and 2 before 3 comes out, though, so we'll see...! :D

Yeah, everyone else here has already said it - cheaper games, platforms that make it easier to build a huge library and constantly see them, more disposable income as people get older, less time to play games as people get older, less "bad" games to ignore.

I still struggle with the idea that I can't play every game I want to. I have no issues thinking about not being able to listen to every album released, because I can find the time to listen to the ones I hear about and want to listen to. I have no issues about books I can't read, because I just don't enjoy reading as much as I wish I did... I don't care about not seeing every film I may like - even though there was a time when that did bother me, when I was studying film in college. Games, though, are still something I hate to let go of. I want to experience all of the ones in my backlog, but I know there is no way I can...unless I got enough money to quit my job... Which isn't going to happen. :/ ;)

Definitely one of the greatest artists that created an amazing library of work. It is sad he didn't get to tour for Blackstar, as I think it is one of his best albums in quite a while. It really feels like a piece of work that needs to be out in the world. It's not just "another set of songs to listen to." It really feels like a complete work that I'm at least happy was able to be released.

It feels surreal that is dead after seeing his face again everywhere due to his album release and birthday last week. I'm definitely sad, as he has had a profound impact on my musical education since I first really started digging into his discography in high school almost twenty years ago...

@lost_remnant:I usually try not to have more than 2 or 3 going at a time, too, but I broke that rule this year and now I'm in the middle of several RPG's/Open world games... So, I definitely learned my lesson there. It's going to take me a while to get through all of those, but I think (re)focusing my time is going to help me finally get through them.

@zevvion@oldmanlight: : I really wish I could let go more, but I have a big time abandoning games. I mainly play games for the stories, so leaving them half-finished is near impossible for me. I've trudged through many (relatively) bad games just to get to the end... A game has to be amazingly bad for me to abandon it. But, yeah, I wish I could let go more often. :)

@atwa: I try to tell myself I can't buy new games until I beat more of the hundreds I already own, but I've only slowed myself down. I did put together a list this year of new (2016) I really want to play; the idea is to get that list to as small as possible and not stray from it (except maybe a handful of indie games).

@jaypb08: I signed up for that, but I found that Google Docs was faster and easier for me to manage. However, I'll check Backloggery out again. :) Thanks!

@shindig: I hear you. I have more games across more platforms (and programs like Steam, GOG, Origin, Uplay, etc.) than I can keep track of. I often find myself forgetting about games I want to play on my iPad or Vita or 3DS, for example.

I've kind of delayed putting my GOTY list out there since I'm still playing Kerbal and it keeps rising higher and higher on my list. Currently trying to build a sky-crane solution and rocket for delivering a rover on one of the closer planets.

Yeah, I haven't put my GOTY list up yet, because I'm trying to finish or get farther into 2-3 games I started last year. Since my list is just for fun, I personally like to try to get through games I started last year for a more "accurate" list that I can look back on years from now.

I spent the last few months mostly on longer games like Fallout 4 and Witcher 3. This year, I'm doing something very different to get through more games by mainly playing shorter games.

I'm excited to finish Life is Strange and then play Cradle, The Beginner's Guide, and Contradiction. There are many, many, many more, but those are three highlights from my first "To Play" list for the year. :)

I've never built a HTPC, and I'm not sure I ever will, but I do regret not building a Micro ATX box for my latest PC. I went with full-sized ATX and mid-tower. However, I don't need all the space. Also, when I build new PC's, my previous PC gets attached to my TV, and I'd like to finally get a smaller PC next to the TV without having to build a new HTPC.
