Ah, I see, thanks for clarifying. That makes sense then.

I picked Vanguard and I'm not even sure it was a good way to go. I've played on Insanity before but this will be the first time doing it with the Citadel DLC. The Shepard clone mission can be a pain.

I've only equipped an assault rifle and SMG, the latter with weight mod, so I recharge fairly fast, but Biotic Charge really drains you and leaves you point blank and the invulnerability doesn't last very long.

Thus far I've been using Carnage as a bonus power and don't really use Biotic Charge. I'm reluctant to get rid of Carnage, great for all ranges and powerful.

I may be OK if I choose my bonus power wisely for the final fight against Shepard's clone. The battle at Palaven was a lot easier than before when trying a fresh start on Insanity. The fast recharging really helped.

I have one more question regarding power use. I see people talking about the squad mates you pick playing into your recharge. Is this true? Does it make your powers recharge slower when you order a squad mate to use one of their own?

Reason I ask is if squad mate power orders DO slow your recharge, I may just use the general fire order more and let them choose themselves how they use their powers. It typically results in them using their powers more anyway.

Previous meaning bottom one on the list?

That really sucks. They make it easier to customize your appearance than your powers. I can understand having to stick with a class after initially choosing, but it they're going to let you pick from several powers to add, they should let you choose which one you want to remove.

I rarely buy new powers from the Normandy med bay because eventually I lose one I want to keep and sometimes can't get it back.

Is there a way you can choose which power is removed once you reach the full amount and want to swap it for a new one?

PC all the way because gamepads and dumbed down graphics suck. Every time I get tempted by the few console exclusive titles that seem interesting, I tell myself it's not worth it to buy a console just for them, and put up with the tradeoffs.

Those whom swear by consoles and their so called value only talk about system price. When you add up cost per game, breakdowns that can happen, how long mp servers remain active, online fees (360), and the fact that most of the big titles are multi platform, there's not enough good exclusives to really make it a good value to buy a console.

Sure PCs cost a bit more, but they also do way more and there's more benefits than tradeoffs to gaming on one.

COD4 and on in the hardest difficulties (barring WaW) I can accept, COD4 I actually like going through time and time again, but Spec Ops on FUBAR, no way in hell. Even on Normal I felt it sometimes was too much. I think I have a hard time dealing with cover shooters over something that requires more from the player than endurance and persistence like Spec Ops.

LOL, yeah it's no doubt more you fumbling with the cover system than anything. Most any CoD game on Veteran is harder.

I recall how hard Blow Torch & Corkscrew and Heart of the Reich were in WaW on Vet, along with the fuel barrel trenches of SOG and the tunnels after shooting down the missile and following the heli segments in Black Ops on Vet. In a word, in some places like the ones mentioned, CoD enemies move faster, respawn continuously, and toss lots of grenades, BIG difference.

At the 56 min mark when they were talking about the possibility (or improbability) of a sequel, I thought to myself, what about a prequel? It could include Walker's missions with Konrad in Kabul and help flesh out both characters more. Thoughts?

I doubt this is true. There is an explanation of all 4 endings:

http://forums.2kgames.com/showthread.php?124504-Spec-Ops-The-Line-All-Endings

Well I'm sure those are in fact the only possible endings, but if there were any reason to doubt it, you'd have to look at the fact that that is merely something posted by a member vs anyone on the inside like 2K staff.

The reason I'm doubting there's a sane ending as described above is the story seems linearly set to make you feel the shock value of Walker's insanity at the end. Without forcing that on the player it would lose it's climax and general focus.

@Phatmac,

Curious as to what you disliked so much about the combat?

It's a good weapon when you've run out of your primary rifle and other enemies have enough ammo for it.

Well IMO that's the same as saying it's in fact not a good weapon and only adequate as a last resort option, like I said.

@Frag_Maniac: I never said it didn't artificially lengthen those games, now did I? I did say that playing CoD on Veteran is tradition and Hard Reset brings me back to the Painkiller/Serious Sam days, so playing on Insane brought a certain level of enjoyment. I have no attachment to the Spec Ops: The Line series, so playing on a harder difficulty gives me no greater enjoyment. I'm not full of contradictions - you're the one implying them.

I did not imply third person shooters aren't worth playing. I implied that cover-based shooters aren't worth playing. Reading comprehension.

So why would you even bring up artificially lengthen as an excuse not to since you're now implying playing harder modes on those other games was also "artificial"? Like them or not, artificial is artificial. You also did use the term third person when referring to not wanting to play "another third-person cover-based shooter", and in highlighting the word another, you kinda made it sound like they're all the same. No reading comprehension problems here, I'm seeing what you're saying verbatim and responding accordingly.

I also don't have a problem with people giving their opinions, but when it's full of nonsense bias I do usually comment on it. Doesn't mean I'm angry about it as you imply. I've played arcade shooters myself like Serious Sam and Painkiller, but I outgrew them several years ago and I do comment when I see people imply such games are more interesting than ones like this. Hey, it's a public forum, you should expect that.

I still don't see that it even makes sense for you to spend so much time on the forum of a game you feel isn't interesting to play. Surely if the game is that boring it's forum would be every bit as much so, hence the trolling reference, which is also an observation, not a comprehension problem.
