@Neckbear: Because women have been historically subjected to unequal treatment based purely on their gender. Men are not given lower wages simply because they're men. C'mon, be real and don't pretend like issues don't exist to make a point.
What jobs is pay unequal? Ive been on this planet for almost 30 years and never in one place did I work did I get paid more than a lady that had the same position and experience as me.
Of course you haven't, I'm 32 and have been hiring people to work for me for 10 years and haven't come across it, because it doesn't exist. If you look at the facts, women actually get paid more then men on average. They also hold more positions of power in middle to upper management on average. This sensational journalist is just propaganda thrown in people's faces now and then to try to make you feel bad; with generic opinions, comments, and little to no facts or investigative journalism. Racism, sexism.....All these "isms" liberals can use to try to conjure up feelings of shame.
This isn't some desolate third world country where women get stoned for expressing themselves. Everyone in this world has an equal shot at everything, regardless of sex, religion, or race....now more then ever. There was a big push to try to get women into more IT jobs when I was going to school. Then a big push to get more people of color into certain jobs, etc...etc.. You know what? That doesn't work. People hire the best person who can complete the task. Go cry about it to someone else if you were the last to get picked for dodgeball. This entitlement, boo-hoo attitude is all the rage now, isn't it.
@EnduranceFun: Would you rather we all just pretended that the video game industry isn't fucking incredibly sexist and instead stop "complaining" and not try to bring any awareness to the problem? Because honestly, fuck that.
Oh dear, and what "problem" is there in the video-game industry, please enlighten me. The "Sexist" problem? I don't think you know what the word "sexist" really means, or how it is/isn't a problem in areas of the world.
Hint, in some countries/areas of the world, sexism is a life threatening issue. In the video-game industry? Sorry, no.
Yes, more sensationalist articles please. That's what I come to GB for.
For real! Sexism is an important topic! I mean, that is what the liberal media tells me, there is a war on women in this country! They wouldn't just be making that up right? Ignoring facts? I for one am glad to have this type of "journalism" in every media outlet possible, you can never be too informed!
The thing is, anyone who likes to write, and likens him/herself to a journalist, thinks they can be a gaming journalist. This is false. You can be a great writer, and have a knack for great journalism, and be a piss poor gaming journalist. Why? Because that person's opinion's on games are absolutely horrible 9/10 times. The person just might suck at understanding video games and the history of video games.
Text adventure is analog recording equipment. Dead, but iterated beyond. And it's not recent, the SCUMM engine and adventure game GUI has obsoleted it. I _hate_ having to guess what works in a game. It would be like existing in the real world where the laws physics and causality change arbitrarily throughout the day.
Yea, because the "adventure game gui" as you put it is so much more then just a pretty face on the exact same logic that goes on in a text adventure :\
Let me know when an adventure game comes out where it doesn't involve the player just mindlessly clicking on every object he sees on screen waiting for the correct action to be triggered.
