My Most Memorable Games

List items

  • This is the first video game I ever played. Went to a local fair and spent all my pocket money on this arcade machine. For better or worse, I've been hooked on gaming ever since.

  • One of my favourite games as a kid. Used to just play it over and over. I eagerly checked this out on Xbox Game Room the other day and it looked like crap. Can't believe I played this at all. Some things are best left in the past.

  • Used to play this game against my Dad. Just like Adventure I'm sure if looks aweful now but we had many hours of fun with this one.

  • Played this game everyday for ages as there was a competition for the first person to finish the game. At the time no internet meant no one was sure if anyone had won apart from reading in some games magazine so I played and played and played.... and I didn't win :(

  • I loved text adventures and The Hobbit was the first adventure game I played with graphics. Revolutionary in it's time.

  • This was a defining moment in gaming. The ZX Spectrum had a game that looked friggin awesome with graphics rivalling an arcade game. Ultimate Play the Game, I love you :)

  • I had this on the Commodore 64 and played it for hours. Don't think I ever saw all the universes in the game but what I did see I just loved.

  • It was a time for Ghostbusters. The movie was HUGE and the game had speech... well kind of.

  • My experience of this title was first on the SNES. Crazy fun playing with friends.

  • My first experience of a Zelda title for the SNES. I got stuck a few times with those damn puzzles but kept coming back for more.

  • This was just split screen heaven :)

  • PC gaming takes off big time.

  • Groundbreaking stuff! Hey I can look up and down now :) My first real introduction to on-line Multiplayer gaming. Also the start of mouse and keyboard as the ultimate FPS control setup.

  • This game was a natural progression from Quake 1 & 2. It was a time of mad upgrades and getting the latest kit for your PC. I was a complete framerate junky at the time but it was fun.

  • Epic continuation of the Half Life story. The last great PC game I played before going back to consoles.

  • Played this game over XBL with friends for the better part of two years. Definitely the best PGR game in the series. Wanted to like PGR 3 but something was missing.

  • The first Halo was ok but I really got into Halo when I could play with my friends over XBL with Halo 2.

  • Occasionally a game comes along where I completely lose myself in it's open world. Oblivion was such a game and took 240 hours of my life.

  • A turning point in character design. Great dialogue and plot with characters you actually care about. Played this through 5 times before I'd had enough.

  • I'm ashamed to say I never got on with Resident Evil 4. I've since been back to play RE4 on my Gamecube and understand that RE5 is simply a revamped version of RE4 but I fell in love with this one. So much so that I fully completed the game on the Xbox, PS3 and PC.

  • I didn't play this game until months after its release as I don't like scary games. I don't ever recall playing a game with so much atmosphere and tension. The graphics are impressive but not a patch on the audio. Played Deadspace two immediately after completion and looking forward to the third game in the franchise.

Update: The third game SUCKED! Thanks EA.

  • Stunning virtual world that has taken 200+ hours of my life.

  • This game is co-op heaven. Loot addiction at it's finest along with some of the best DLC I've played for any game.
