Why "24" is the best action show ever...

For those of you who haven't been caught in the phenomenon, 24 is an amazing action show starring Kiefer Sutherland, a goverment agent, who stops terrorist attacks.

It is amazing. Last night was a 2 hour special, and I was blown away by it....

Here's the trailer for this season, to show you how intense it is..:

  



Now why is 24 the best action show ever:

Well first off. The show takes place in actual real time. Yes real time. Including commercials. So a show might start at nine and end at ten, but in the show "world" the show takes place between 4 and 5. There is a timer that explains what time it is in the show, and it keeps the tension mounting.

What's even more amazing is that this entire season takes place in one day. Yes the season started at 8 a.m., and now it is at nine p.m. all in the same day in the show.

Secondly the show uses split screen cameras, which just amp up the action even more. You see the same sequence on the screen at the same time, so you can see character reactions to what happens, and it utilizes the whole real time aspect to the show.

Thirdly Kiefer Sutherland is amazing as Jack Bauer. He is, as people have said, "born for the role." He is so intense plays his part incredibly well. The rest of the cast is excellent, and it isn't that "cheesy" TV acting you sometimes get.

Fourthly the show is brilliantly written. Every single character you see on screen, who has a minor role, turns out to play a big role in the scheme of things. The show is incredibly intense, and everything fits together in the end. There are some incredible twists that you never see coming, and the end of each episode leaves you on the edge of your seat more than the last.

Lastly it shows the story of a man who, more than anything, loves America, and will stop at nothing to protect the freedom which it stands for.

You cannot help, but love this show. Everyone who has watched this season, is more in love with the show than I am. You owe it to yourself to watch 24...

I actually used to watch 24 every Monday, I enjoyed that so much. But I don't know... after Jack kills that special someone (don't wanna spoil it), I didn't feel that compelled to go back to watch it. And with Tony coming back, that was just a bit too desperate, not that the show needs to be, I think.

Heroes... Heroes is shit, they turned that show into literal shit. It had an amazing premise too, the first season was great, up until the whole last episode, what a horrible way to end a season, no epic fight? What?!

I do watch it only to see if it gets any better.  My problem with 24 is the same plot elements are used over and over again, and that the characters don't talk like humans.  However this season I have seen a slight improvement to the dialogue and in places the acting has been actually a little better to.  Still they need to completely drop the whole "WHAT?!" response as well as the damn explanations all the characters make.

LOL, no House is the best live action comedy on TV right now.  Best action show is Heroes.

24 hour, never liked it and it should have been taking out back and put down a long time ago.

Man, I have the first three seasons of 24 on DVD, but I just don't want to dedicate myself to watch it all because I know I will be hooked if I just watch a few episodes...

I don't know about the real-time stuff.

Considering that I live in a country where interruptive commercial-breaks on TV aren't allowed, you notice that 1 hour in the show actually only amounts to 45 min in real rime.
Taken in account how much happens in that show constantly, I doubt that the space of the commercial break is written into the story.
If a gun is pointed at Jack Bauer before a commercial-break and the one pointing the gun is about to shoot - why would this guy realistically wait 3-4 minutes to pull the trigger.

Anyway, I followed most of the first season loyally, but lost interest towards the ending when things became too contrived... And the second season failed to catch my interest, so naturally I don't agree about it being the best action show ever.

Only bad seasons were 3 and 6. 4 was basically just the set-up for 5, which was AMAZING!

1 and 2 are some of the most compelling television I have ever seen.

But still not the best action TV show ever

While 24 may be a little generic, it's always gripping and fun, while being packed with action and plot twists.

I love this Season. I did really want Aaron to go save everyone mind you but then we wouldn't have another 12 eps =P

EDIT: AFAIK; this is the penultimate season, at least with Jack Bauer

I agree partially with you Armstro, but I think that Redemption wasn't that great, and this season has revitalized the show.

24 is awesome and I'm still watching the new season, but I think they are kind of killing it by having so many seasons with such similar plot lines and fairly predictable twists because of that. It's still good but it was definitely better when the concept of the show was newer.

24 is an amazing show. All of them were great (6 was meh) but 5 is probably my favorite. That one kept me on my seat every episode. This season is shaping along very well.

I was totally addicted to the first 4 seasons.

Season 5 was terrible and boring.

This season started off alright and then kind of made me lose interest in it. I'm gonna try to catch up with it though.

Edit: Season 6 was the terrible one, 5 was awesome.

I watch 24 too. I can't wait for next Monday. The scenes at the end looked pretty intense.
