Why do I feel like you and I are the only people who defend both Other M and Final Fantasy XIII?

Damn right.

Possibly.  It's been a very weird year for games for me.

I haven't played Other M, actually, I haven't played any game on your list. Maybe I'm more of a traditional gamer than I thought. I did play Endless Ocean: Blue World, so there is hope.

V. nice list, unique and you can see the personality in it. I also quite enjoyed FFXIII and DP and have put them in my list as well. A lot of those games routinely get undeserved hate, I'm looking at you FFXIII, Metroid, Gran Turismo, and Samurai Warriors.
If you had Lost Planet 2 in there I think Giant Bomb would put you on a most wanted list or something.

@Claude:  I'm not even really sure what a traditional gamer is, anymore.

@owl_of_minerva: Thanks.  And yeah, I can't imagine what would happen if I put Lost Planet 2 on the list.  Maybe I'd have to assume false identity and go into hiding?  Oh well.  These were the games I enjoyed, so there's no sense leaving them off.

@Hailinel:  I was being facetious, something oldschool said one time about being hardcore or casual now being called traditional and so on. I just hope it stays the way it is. Imagine a world where every game is the same and every person that plays video games likes the same game.

I like your list, it makes me happy. Without diversity, I would probably be a sad gamer.

Considering how many times I have seen you defend Other M on these forums, I would have been surprised if you had picked anything else. However, I think it's also telling that I haven't played a single game on your list (Well, Persona 3 obviously, but not P3P). Ah well. Different Strokes and all that.

@ArbitraryWater:   Like I said, you were expecting something else? :P

But yeah, different strokes.  I don't know if I could put myself through the task of playing as many old games as you have in the past year.  The oldest I've played recently at all was a little bit of Fallout 2, and that was really only enough to tell me that I'm still terrible at it.

@Hailinel: I'm actually not a huge fan of Fallout 2, all things considered. The pacing is agonizingly slow, some of the nerd culture references are fairly cringe-worthy (So, how many Monty Python references can we shove in this game because it's 1998 and we think we're funny?), and I generally think it hasn't aged especially well in spots. Never finished it though. First game is better, but both are kind of overrated in the general pantheon of Western RPGs.

And yeah. I play old games partially because I don't have a steady source of income and partially because I can cherry pick the best games (mostly RPGs) of yesteryear instead of picking from a slate of derivative First Person Shooters and the what have you of this year. Still need to play Bayonetta and Darksiders though...

I never beat Fallout 2, either, and I never played much of the first game.  Actually, come to think of it, I'm not sure why I keep giving the games a shot.  I bought Fallout 1&2 in a dual-pack back when I was in college and gave them both a shot back then.  Then I tried Fallout 3 and really didn't like it much at all.  Then New Vegas came along, and I stupidly decided to try it and immediately ran into a biblical plague of bugs.  Why do I this to myself?

But I hear you.  Sometimes it's better to go back to the old games that you know you'll enjoy or probably enjoy instead of running into a wave of new releases that don't strike your fancy.

I enjoyed WarioWare: D.I.Y. as well. I was thinking about including that in my top 10.

@Apathylad: Yeah.  That game really surprised me.  It's technical and detailed, but not so complicated that you can't put together a game truly absurd.

What a great list.

Even though I didn't have the time to experience any of the games on your list expect Trauma Team and FFXIII, I can totally understand how different can someone be compared to other people's choices; be it their RPGs or their favorite FPSs.

It's nice to see some change :D.

@ZombiePie:  True enough, though it's a shame that not everyone can see things that way.

Also, sorry again for spoiling Other M for you in the wiki.  I think it was my writing that did that. >_>

@Hailinel:  Yup, there's no wrong way to like games. You didn't spoil Other M. I always read the endings to games that I don't like.

@Hailinel:  I can't really explain it other than saying that I'm not a fan of Metroid. Didn't like it in 2D and didn't like it in 3D. I heard that Other M was different and gave it a shot and ultimately it wasn't the game to change my prejudices against the franchise.

@ZombiePie:   Ah.  Well, that's fair enough.  I've also felt and done the same regarding series I've historically not had fondness or interest in.  (Why do I keep buying Fallout games?)

In a flood of lists that contain Red Dead Redemption and Mass Effect 2 at the top yours is refreshing.

Good list. I have been debating doing one myself over the past couple of days, but.... truth is, my perspective of time is so warped at this point I'm not even sure what came out this year... and on top of that I'm not even sure I really liked 10 games enough this year to remember them, ha ha ha. SSF4 and Deadly Prem are the only things I can really think of, and I wouldn't have even remembered Deadly Prem was THIS year if it wasn't on a couple of my friend's lists, ha ha ha. Actually, Another M WAS really good, I just kind of forgot about it. I liked Samus' characterization, I still don't understand all the pissing and moaning about it.

@chickengeorgewashington:   Thanks.  Yeah, it's been quite a year for releases.  So much has come out that in making my list, I knew that there would be games that would just slip my mind because of how the past twelve months came and went.
