All Around the World Wide Web

I have a lot of profiles online. For the most part, I go by Hamst3r or Hamster Alliance on all of them. I've collected all the more important websites that I actively use and put them in a list.

You can check out the list on the About Me tab of my profile.

If you're on any of those social networking or gaming websites, add me as a friend! Just let me know you're from Giant Bomb if your name there is different than it is here. :D

A quick rundown of the sites listed there:

Myspace, Youtube, Twitter, Last.Fm, GameTrailers, Giant Bomb, GameSpot, etc. There are also links to me on Steam, XFire and Xbox Live. As well as links for the various websites I run.

So yeah, check me out and connect with me around the web. :)

New ezmuze+ Hamst3r edition video.

Hey, all. :)

Check it out, got a new vid up in Youtube's HD quality:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qdzD3e2DEs&fmt=22

The graphics have been refined a bit since the last video you might have seen.

New features include:

Over 500 loops now and I'm still making more. :)
Volume automation using the preset patterns or the automation editor.
Super simple sample auditioning and sample changing controls.
More intuitive copy and paste controls, so you can duplicate sections of your song and quickly copy automation.
Click the left analog stick to mute the current channel. (Boring feature, but it didn't exist until just a week or so ago.)

Sound visualization stuff: There's a full-screen visualizer, VU meters for every track, sliding automation levels and a channel histogram. If we can get any other cool vis stuff in there we will. :)

Anyways, I'm going to start shopping around for the best way to capture video and sound directly from the 360 so that I can make a proper trailer and some video tutorials on how to get the most out of EZMHE. Once I get the trailer done, expect to see it on the GameTrailers.com homepage! :D

Help me pick the right name for EZ Muze!

As mentioned in a previous blog, I'm currently working on a loop-based music program for the XBOX 360, as it doesn't really have any music creation software. It'll be a marketplace download.

The current name for it is EZ Muze: Hamst3r Edition, as the program itself is called EZ Muze (as in Easy Music) and the loops are by me, Hamst3r. Seems simple enough, but someone has suggested that having Hamst3r in there might confuse people and having THA or the full Hamster Alliance in there would be better.

I want to pick the right name for it, so help me out here.

The choices are:

1. EZ Muze: Hamst3r Edition (current title)
2. EZ Muze: THA Edition
3. EZ Muze Pro: THA Edition
4. EZ Muze: Hamster Alliance Edition
5. Doesn't Matter, the name doesn't affect my opinion.

Either Vote on the poll or just tell me in this thread what you think is the better title. :D

Thanks!

Black Mesa: Community Projects

There's a thread happening on the Black Mesa forum where the developer has asked for the community to recreate the various sound effects for the enemies in Half-Life 1.

I've done a few so far and I think they're pretty good. MP3 downloads:

1. Tentacle

also, the loud clanging when it hits the floor: Tentacle Strikes (warning: loud and percussive)

2. Vortigaunt Slave

3. Bullsquid

4. Headcrab

5. Zombie 2

6. Zombie 1

So yeah, that's what I have so far. Might record a few more enemy sounds. Perhaps a the garg or the Gonarch.

Enjoy. :)

EZ Muze: Hamst3r Edition...coming soon. :)

Taken from hamsteralliance.com:

Hi! 2009!

Well…I’ve quit my job of 5 years and I’m going into the new year focusing all of my attention on my music projects! It’ll be a good experience, I think. Part of it will be writing music for video games and other media, which I’m quite excited to get in to! :)

I’m currently collaborating with a programmer to make a music program / music toy / “game” for the XBOX 360. It’s called EZ Muze: Hamst3r Edition (EZMHE). It’ll be a downloadable game available from the Xbox Live Marketplace. There is no release date yet but EZMHE is receiving performance enhancements and new loops every day and is starting to really shape up, so it shouldn’t be too far off.

My job in this project is to make all of the music loops you’ll have access to. I’ve done nearly 200 loops so far! The mix of sounds and styles is quite varied, still all of the loops will fit together quite nicely. Absolutely any combination of loops in EZMHE should be harmonious.

EZMHE has two editing modes; easy mode and advanced mode. In advanced mode you can cut the loops in to smaller pieces and rearrange them. You’ll also have access to additional tracks for in Advanced Mode, for extra awesomeness.

Here’s a video of EZ Muze: Hamst3r Edition in action showing off the more Drum and Bass centric loops and some chopped up screaming:

I’ve also put together some cover art for EZMHE.
Click on the image for the larger version:

So yeah, that’s what I’m up to.

I’ll let you know when EZ Muze: Hamst3r Edition is ready to go so you can check it out on the XBOX Live Marketplace. :)
