New Music: Chaos Out Of Nothingness (Progressive Rock/Post-Rock)

I have a huge appreciation for Post Rock and Progressive Rock music. I borrow from their ideas quite often. I haven’t really done a full on track in either genre though. Making Contact is the closest I’ve come to making a Progressive Rock or Post-Rock track.

Chaos Out Of Nothingness comes much closer. Layers of guitars, bass, drums, piano and ambience that build-up slowly to the big finale. Not too slow of a build-up though, cause I get bored when the build-up is several minutes long. :P

Check it out:

Now with Riboflavin:

The game is called rRootage. It's a freeware title by ABA Games out of Japan.

It has a few modes. I'm playing the normal mode where you simply shoot the boss and avoid bullets. There's an Ika mode modeled after the color-changing gameplay of Ikaruga. There are also Psyvariar and Gundam Wing modes, but those aren't as awesome as the normal mode and Ika mode. :)

You can pick it up here: http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~cs8k-cyu/windows/rr_e.html

I've almost completed the normal mode levels, but the difficulty of the final 8 stages is a bit much. Bullet hell extreme. Lots of bullets. Really really fast bullets. :x

I liked it. Moody, but with a taste of exposure.

Ooo, another cool song to add to my rapidly growing Hamster Alliance iTunes folder. I really like the progressive ambient and soft to really resounding and strong stuff you do. For example...Reprimand of the Eternal Watchers is great! :D Keep up the awesome work!

That's pretty cool. It reminds me a bit of Explosions In the Sky.

I'm pretty sure I had that rRootage game on my iPod Touch. It gets crazy.

Also, I tried to cover Mode 7 on guitar in more of a metal fashion but there were some parts that I couldn't really make out. Sorry :(

Ahh, post-rock and prog. Two of the great musical loves of my life. I could sit here for ages recommending bands.

As for your stuff, it's pretty solid, and fits together well enough. Reminds me of God is an Astronaut. The piano work is alright, and the outro works really well. Sorry to say this, but it's too short. Eight minutes would be better than four here. I can see what you were going for; tightness and immediacy rather than breating space, but musically it's a little too cluttered and unfocused. Post-rock especially is all about giving yourself room to breathe, and while the intro and outro do that well, the middle, while it does have some really cool parts, doesn't quite cut it in my humble opinion. I like the atmosphere created throughout, though, so much so that I'd like to hear a full album from you guys.

@Atlas: Thanks.  God is an Astronaut is a good group. I've got some of their stuff. :)

I like to keep my music short and to the point. My attention span doesn't last much longer than 4 minutes. If a song goes on for any longer I tend to skip through it or move on to the next song halfway. Haha. :P

Thanks again tho!
