Are skills really neccesary though? We still have perks and those are what really change the game. Do we need oblivion/morrowind style shooting where I aim with my scope at someones head and fire but then the game decides that I missed anyway? Are skills just something they have to put in just because they have always been there? Things like sneak and repair could easily be boiled directly into your normal stats or just straight into perks imo.

Well, to be fair to that, putting something in your scope doesn't necessarily mean you hit it. Especially if either of you are moving and you aren't taking into account wind, elevation, distance, thermal effects...whatever. Which is all what I assumed was accounted for with a skill score.

I get video games have taught us otherwise, at some point convention is convention even if its not true, and to be ultra fair, most video game shooting is done at practically knife fighting range, but I think there is a place for it, even if it bothers some.

I'd maybe play a remix that was just all boss fights from all the games.

I'd like that. I might also go for having to fight multiple, related bosses at the same time.

Aside from it only being the first 6 games, I'm pretty pumped for this. I wish it was all 10 of the Mega Man games in one collection though. I hope they don't "gameify" the package by locking things behind play walls and not just giving me access to everything immediately. I have played these games many times in many forms over the years. If this is being billed as a preservation, I do not want to be forced to play something to gain access to content.

I'm wondering if its a rights issue (I believe this covers only the NES games) or if we will get them as DLC/sequel.

I just want to be able to fight Heat Man with the Ice Slasher. IE I want the game where I fight ALL of the Robot Masters.

My only worry is that I probably take longer than 2 hours to troubleshoot games that aren't working. I guess I'd have to drop them a lot earlier when it occasionally happens.

I am so excited. It could be interesting to flip the scenarios from the last game, like to assassinate an alien VIP instead of having to protect a human VIP.

I think hunting down a human collaborator as they do the screaming and twitching while the aliens try to find and rescue them would be very interesting. Especially if things like the possibility of faulty intel or threatened family members make offing the "traitor" a lot less a clear thing to do.

Maybe it's Star Trek, maybe its the UFO games, maybe its XCOM multiplayer, but I kinda want to have the ability to have aliens in my squad. Aliens are in the top 3 of videogame enemies to slaughter, but according to XCOM lore, the groundtroops we've remorselessly killed are even more victims of the Ethereal overlords than the humans unknowingly trapped in their shiny cage in XCOM2.

Oh, yeah, totally. I want this A LOT.

One of the things that each XCOM game has touched on is that the alien civilization you're at war against is actually comprised of a big grouping of different alien species & cultures, some of whom have been conquered or coerced. So YES, please give me some rad Xenos who wanna help fight against their own oppressors too!

My thoughts exactly. Whether its Elvis from Perfect Dark or Arbiter of Halo, faceless aliens suddenly becoming a face is generally really awesome. That these two would actually translate pretty well to XCOM aliens just makes me want it more.

Hope they have some neat interactions with mixed alien - human squads you fight. Maybe if you kill all the aliens, some human soldiers try to surrender / join x-com's side or maybe the humans are mostly mind controlled / subdermal implant locked, so you can recruit them, but have to incapacitate them and deprogram them on your ship.

Also if your base is flying around, looks like x-com takes a chunk of the role of the aliens from the first game. This time you're the ones flying around infiltrating places, gathering resources and... launching terrorist attacks?

Sneak Reveal!

And by that I mean Austin Walker of Giant Bomb News!

EDIT- Looks pretty neato. Interesting to still have country patches on the armor. I wonder if Fireaxis had some info on number of people that finished the game/lost versus won and planned the sequel accordingly. It's probably what I would do in choice heavy series to keep the branching manageable.

Donations. Why not add donations?

I have no problem buying things that are good. But this just seems weird to me. The standard for those mods - that you pay for - will have to be of such quality that I wouldn't be able to distinguish them from official stuff.

But hey, this is capitalism at its finest. I won't be buying shit. But there are sure to be people who will.

Edit: Kinda shitty of Valve and Bethesda to take 75% of what they sell the mod for though.

It's actually that last bit that worries me while also being shitty. This could just offload the work needed to do DLC while effectively getting paid like you made some. All kinds of annoying but otherwise ignorable stuff could be kept in place knowing paid mods will come around to address them. Things like Vinny's Bane (carry weight limitations) even if that specific example would probably be included in large mods or race to the bottom in pricing.
