@lab392: If that’s the case, the site no longer serves its purpose and needs to reconsider why it even exists. Because if the site’s actions in the past eighteen months hadn’t done enough to devalue the subscriptions and my desire to support them further, explicitly making branded content for a site that, once again, only exists because its founder got fired for refusing to treat an advertising partner with kid gloves would be the last straw
@benl: Do you actually believe that an ad for a product on the podcast is the same thing as a video whose entire purpose is to be sponsored content and show off fancy computers given to them for free by an advertiser with no editorial content about the products provided to them by said advertiser?
My point is incredibly obvious. This video only exists to be an ad for NXZT computers. It’s gross and sucks and Giant Bomb of yore would never have done this. What more do you need explained?
@crazybagman: @matthewgm: Come on, like you don’t know exactly what I mean. The text is not the focus here. The main review is the podcast/video and the text is meant to accompany it for people that don’t have the time or don’t want to watch it. And that’s totally their right to do but it sucks when they have people on staff that are great writers first and foremost. And I do feel it’s half-assed compared to the most comprehensive or criticism-minded reviews they’ve done. Sorry you don’t agree, but I’m also hard pressed to see how I’m wrong here. The text is not the focus, and it’s easy to see how it’s not the focus because this is the direction they’ve explicitly stated they’ve been going in for a while and the text here reflects that. Cool that you don’t mind that, but I don’t think it makes me “grumpy” that I like reading things and the written reviews are now essentially secondary to what amounts to a Bombcast discussion clip.
I fucking hate these new summary reviews so much. Like I get it, you’re barely a text site anymore, but this just fucking sucks. Y’all employ two of the best writers in the industry in Brad and Alex and their talents are going to waste and it’s wack.
Not wanting to support a game or its development team because they have really bad views (and I'm saying views because calling the kinds of racism, misogyny and transphobia that the edgelord dude that got fired engaged in "opinions" implies that there's a validity or credence to them that, if you use that word, makes you suspect af) is a completely valid thing and is the entire point of "voting with your dollars" that y'all constantly talk about. (Granted I know that a lot of people who say that also have an unstated part of "vote with your dollar but shut the fuck up about it because I don't want to hear it," but whatever.) You should be supportive of people who feel morally obliged not to support something on those grounds, not dismissive. With that said:
