BF3 killed my RO2 server.

I expect TM2 servers to be a wasteland.

@IceOrb: it would also be better if they gave it all away for free, but this is capcom we're talking about here and they wouldn't be so generous, it would have been $5 per individual character, why would they change the price when they already had two characters at $5 each. as far as a compatibility patch, well you see how well it worked out for MK9 and capcom isn't really the company to learn from other people's mistakes. This is the cleanest way they have to push out so much content all at once.

Those were characters that were included as part of a pre order incentive. It'd make sense they would have a bit higher premium price attached to them otherwise you'd have all those CE pre order folk pissed off that they paid extra for shit they could have gotten cheaper. Also them being on the disc totally makes them being that expensive way way worse :).

Whatever I've made my point known and it appeared to be good enough for the original person I was having this conversation with. (StarvingGamer for those not keeping score.)

As I said earlier nobody is going to "win" this so it's best to just agree to disagree cause we're just talking in circles.

End of the day regardless of how they handle this package everyone who wants to play MVC3, myself included, is going to buy it because it will be THE VERSION to play. Balance tweaks, fixed online, more characters, etc... etc... It'd be foolish to skip it and stay with Vanilla just because I don't like the business end of Capcom.

@WiqidBritt:3-5 dollars for a character pack and you have the option of picking and choosing which ones you actually want is a hell of a lot better than having to buy everything when I really only want access to Frank West and Vergil. I'd rather buy the things I want and have a compatibility patch forced on me so I can still play against folks that have those characters. And for the people that want everything they can buy the season pass.

@Lunar_Aura: Tell me about it.

It'd come out to around 3-5 dollars per two characters depending on what pricing model they go with. Whether or not they'd go with the "buy 2 characters at a time for 5 weeks" or "pay this lump amount and get everything as it releases". Regardless of which one they would have gone with, or maybe even both, it would not have been that far off from the MK9 pricing model or any of the other "Season Pass" price models.

MK9 was the first to do the DLC character + season pass package but that doesn't mean they need to be the set standard.

This is all hypothetical of course since the reality is they are releasing a retail package.

But yeah I'm literally buying it because I have to. I really really like the game I just absolutely 100% hate the business end of it and how capcom is handling it.

@JDreams:

That would be called selective reading friend.

Next time you decide to jump into a conversation lets try reading what points EVERYONE has brought to the table.

@StarvingGamer: And if it was still DLC it would have been JUST 10 characters. This is the part you keep ignoring that this was originally intended to be DLC. All they've done is add in some color swaps and remixed stages to pad out the package.

@JDreams:

Me: "Also they have already admitted to this being intended DLC for MVC3 Vanilla and the earthquake knocked them a bit off schedule hence the retail release. I seriously doubt they'd release 45 dollar DLC and we'd probably end up paying, at most, 30 dollars for all 10 characters. Or they'd do what everyone else is doing and charge 25 for a season pass and we'd get two characters a week for 5 weeks. If it was still DLC that is."

Nobody is going to "win" this conversation so I'm just going to end it with we're going to have to agree to disagree on this one.

It's already gone on for 3 more pages than it really needed to.

Not to mention it's kinda moot because even with all the dumb bullshit I believe capcom is doing I'm still going to spend 40 dollars on this package because it will be THE version to play after it releases.

@JDreams: Hey that's really cool of you to edit my post really creatively and omit the part where I mentioned a season pass which would bring the price of the DLC in line with AE. Super cool selective reading you got going there.

@StarvingGamer: It is 100% totally ok for them to pimp them for what they are. Calling color swaps costumes is kinda dirty. Especially if someone who is a huge comic nerd (and I mean that in the best way possible) reads "Oh and we also have 6 different eras of xman costumes in our game" only to find out its actually just 6 color swaps that only kinda look like their respective era AFTER they've bought the game.

I'm saying they should be true to their customers. They already burned many a bridge with AE, they're continuing to burn people with the colors in SF3:OE, and even here they're trying to trick you into thinking this is some super awesome deal which is how those articles read to me. Putting in all that effort to try and show someone that there is some sort of connection to the way these characters are colored beyond them being just simple color swaps. Those connections to those different eras should be obvious but it isn't because of how poorly done the color swap is/the default costume doesn't lend itself well to that sort of thing at all. (See: All 6 storm options.)

I don't need to be tricked. Show off the 10 new characters. It is actual new content that I'm legit excited for and the bulk of it is cool stuff that would lure in new potential customers.

The end of the day this is a DLC package with 10 new characters that fixes the semi busted online and costs 40 dollars. Nothing else.

In another 6 months I'm sure they're gonna roll out an AE equivalent to UMVC3.

And I'll buy that too.

@StarvingGamer: They are still calling these glorified color swaps Costumes and trying to pass it off like it is some major bonus to the consumer. That is the problem.

It honest to god would not bug me as much if they pimped the brand new actually changed models more and just mentioned that they tweaked some of the color options as well. Instead they are bringing the color tweaks to the front and trying to pass them off as costumes. It's dumb.

It's them trying to make it seem like they have more content than they really have. I would totally pay to see Strider wearing an Ibuki outfit. A REAL Ibuki outfit. That shit would look hilarious. The thing in UMVC3 is just sort of a brown gi. Not the same.

Or AOA Wolverine with his hand actually missing. That would be cool as hell. Instead we get Blue tights wolverine which I guess kinda looks like AOA Wolverine.
