My local store usually releases games a day or two before release day, though sometimes you get lucky and they let one out several days early, like my copy of Smash Bros. Brawl.
The story never once grabbed me. I hated the characters through the entire game, but unlike you and others, the battle system did 'click' and I started to really enjoy it...after the godawful 15 hour tutorial sequence. That alone is why FF-XIII should only ever be considered an 'okay' game despite it's fantastic combat. A truly good game wouldn't keep you in hand holding hell for so goddamn long. Fuck, XIII-2 does the entire tutorial in a couple hours, proving that SE can actually do this shit.(I guess they were just trolling their fans with the original's extended prologue.)
Huh, seems strange to me that the most vocal complainers are also PC gamers connected to steam. Yeah, have fun selling that copy, or installing without being connected to the internet.
Who the fuck would want a used game buyer, anyway? They don't make one iota of money from your purchase. That's why I totally support DLC online passes.(Hey, you payed $50 instead of $60 by buying it used at fucking Gamestop, now you can use that extra $10 and buy some DLC to actually support the game.)
It's too bad, some scaling would have given me a reason to play more then two characters.(One republic, one Imperial) The sidequests are so shitty and boring that I can only tolerate maybe one go around per side.
