I think video games have changed and Resident Evil adapted to be a still relevant, successful JAPANESE franchise. Horror games in general are non existent in the big box releases. We all have that warm fuzzy feeling of past games that reinvented our past time, but Resident Evil has made some very ground breaking changes that have kept it a top franchise today. Be happy for that.

Great post. I think this is how most rational Mass Effect fans (including myself) feel about the game. I wish I could discuss the game (ending or not) without it turning so vile. Good read. Keep writing.

LA Noire is a hard S rank with the collectibles. Plus you must get all the DLC as well. I find if I really enjoy a game and it does not have multiplayer achievements then I will make a run at an S rank. The remaining achievements have to be fun to earn as well

Favorite ones of last year were Dead Space 2 and Batman: Arkham City. Hell I would give anything for a reason to play more Batman (hopefully those DLC rumors are true). Going for the Mass Effect 3 S rank as we speak since it meets all the requirements for me to try and get it. I think thats the bottom line, if you have fun doing it, then go for it. I don't grind or do anything that is time consuming for the sake of an S rank, some games are not worth it or the achievements are just too ridiculous.

The girlfriend is in the process of quitting and has been using them. They work pretty good, if you have the compulsiveness to go through the smoking motions especially (she finds she uses it most while driving). They can be quite expensive (as in any quit smoking product) here in the US. Unfortunately she just buys whatever is available so I can not give much advice on the brand. I would just give it a shot and see if it works as a substitute for your cravings. They are not that expensive compared to the gum or the patch, so its worth buying one for a trial run.

IGN reports new trophies for Arkham City have popped up.

This looks like the alleged Harley Quinn DLC. From the sounds of it, this is a Robin Story mission (from destroying balloons, like collectibles found in the story mode) and the moves listed in the achievements reference Robins moves in his DLC. Sounds like more challenge maps as well.

@Toxin45: One question: Have you played Heavenly Sword or Enslaved? I think you might change your mind after playing either one. Also read this:http://ps3.ign.com/articles/121/1216590p1.html

Remember Hideaki Itsuno is working on this game (if your a big fan of the series I don't think I need to explain who this is). Also IT IS WAY TOO EARLY TO SAY ANYTHING. For all you know this could be the best game in the series. Aside from a couple minutes of gameplay and concept images, we have no idea what the finished product will be.

Great article Patrick. This gives me some confidence in today's congressional leaders. It's an excellent point that people should call their representative. Don't waste your time on a five second internet petition. If you have the time to call your representative they certainly think you have time to go out and vote for them and will listen. I don't even want to know the number of people who commented on this story who don't know who their district representative is.

@OtakuGamer: Hey guys remember Killzone 3? No one else does. (Rightfully so, at least)

Killzone 3 was released on February 14, was not a January game.

@OtakuGamer said:

  1. It's the month after the festive season which probably raped most of our wallets.
  2. Games that usually come out around this time are generally forgotten by the end of the year. Meaning no fancy awards or nominations.

1. Your wallet or video games does not have genitals for this to occur.

2 Mass Effect 2 was a January game (2010) that won quite a few awards, including Giantbombs game of the year. Dead Space 2 was also a January game that was recognized in their top 10 for last year.

@Seppli: I believe your theory has been proved incorrect, while not as heavy a schedule as previous months the industry does not waste this month. The following notable games have been released in January:

2012 - Soul Calibur 5, Final Fantasy XIII-2

2011 - Dead Space 2, LittleBigPlanet 2

2010 - Mass Effect 2, Darksiders, Bayonetta

To be fair it's not entirely devoid of games. Soul Calibur 5 and Final Fantasy XIII-2 are coming out this month. If they are not your thing than your SOL, but there are some decent releases this month.
