The whole stranger bit just plain irritated me. It seemed too "pulled out of someone's ass" for my liking.

I did not actually spoil anything about GoT. That was a total hypothetical. The characters I listed may or may not die, but I certainly did not give a spoiler-y list there. :)

Do you think they should have just ditched the action stuff and stuck with the point and click with a story? Or do you think they should have tried to make the action stuff a whole lot better?

@sooty: I can't wait for the Red Wedding to see my wife's reaction. :)

"His Meat" hands down. This was a character's name in Asheron's Call way back when. In that game, when you were killed there was a regional message that detailed what killed you.

"Lithos Lugian beat His Meat into oblivion!"

"Ash Gromnie split His Meat in twain!"

"Drudge Stalker smashed His Meat so hard the ground shook!"

@atlas: I was trying to be succinct in my post, but frankly you did a better job at that. I agree with all of what you said of the two games. Perhaps part of my problem is I had such high expectations of the game, given its GOTY status here at Giant Bomb. What was it up against in that year? Was ME2 really better than Red Dead, for instance? I'm going to have to re-listen to that GOTY Bombcast. :)

I played through it on the PC, which was beautiful. A truly incredible game, front to back. But that's not the point. I'm considering buying it on 360 just to play it on the upstairs TV which has far better SOUND than my PC. Is it crazy to buy a $60 game twice? I could also play some sections for my wife that way, which I'd like to do.

That makes sense, and I don't fault you for it. I really only like FPS games if they have a great story, it's not the game play that gets me in the door.

Out of curiosity, what kind of gameplay do you really like?

I'd say try it on hard for a couple levels, just to see if it's different. I played it through on hard the first time, and had a great time. I just started a game on normal last night and the combat became downright trivial.
