@Little_Socrates: Yeah, those big current gen titles would be redundant, especially as live-action spectacle. Unless you could mine something really unique out of it.
Shadow of the Colossus. Retain the artsy, minimalistic style and get a top-shelf director who can recreate the moody atmosphere but also handle the scale and action. David Lynch would work, as long as the studio could keep him on a reasonably short leash.
Oh man, could totally get behind this. Lynch though? On the flipside (and on a less serious note, but i'd still buy a ticket), a manic Kirby freakout, maybe bring Gilliam in. 'Epic Fear and Loathing with Kirby and his Yarn'. Would prob work better as a 15 minute short though.
I wonder to what extent time-spent-playing said game will be a factor. I'm sure there will some rich, heated debates either way as usual from the GB dudes, though I don't really know them one from another. Also, I find the Diablo 3 hate pretty funny. Most common thing I read (apart from the sales figures, which are pretty good right?) in the hate towards the game is that "it failed, loot was broken, etc, etc, oh, and also, that I spent 100+ hours playing it". I loved D3, played it more than any game this year, and on that alone it's my frontrunner for GOTY.
one of their top 3 game will be journey so no, it won't be about time spent playing.
You sound pretty sure. I don't know the guys as well as you I guess. Have a feeling that the entry of that particular game, and the rest of the shorter, more 'indie' titles, will provoke some good back and forth about their merits when compared to the big, robust AAA (whatever that means) titles. I feel that a person's time and how it is spent is a very worthwhile part of a discussion about their favorite games of the year.

A full length feature by the Blizzard CG team (with story/character support from Pixar?), as compelling beginning to end as their typical cutscenes. Would prefer the Diablo universe.
That or maybe something from the old point and click line, properly resurrected. Sam and Max, Grim Fandango, Loom.
