Disturbing

Have we, as a society, become so pathetically insecure that we now must rely on fake praise in order to avoid the crippling grip of depression and convince ourselves that everything is going to be OK? Unless they're buying it as a joke, who gets this? Who decides "heeeeey, I could really use a little pick-me-up in my life!" and gets a CD full of people clapping to play when they feel down?

And how much better is this "metal" version of the above video?

Wow.... If that is what it is going to come down to for someone to feel good about themselves then I've lost faith in humanity.

I want to punch that man right in the face.

I've never found a crowd's applause soothing, I always wonder what they're really thinking.  And if this CD keeps telling the guy the finish line is closer than he thinks-- he'll never get there.  How horrifying is that?  I think it would help if that announcer on the CD had even an iota of sincerity.

I consider the following link to be more disturbing, but I guess the whole week has been a disturbing walkabout for a bunch of people:

HOORAY FOR YOU!

I wonder much these actors get paid to pretend to be happy?

The second version of this infomercial is the best IMO.
By the way, did somebody notice that they all have the same set of headphones?

Well humans had a good run....

People would complain if they made an infomercial for cigarettes and whiskey sour.
Sometimes the old ways are the best ways...

Someone needs to bite the bullet and torrent this CD. I don't know how much longer I can go on without it.

I think this kind of thing already has existed for a long time, it is called religion.  Weak minds think alike.

The voice of encouragement sounds so fake, that would actually depress me more

Yeah, James. It was creepy then, it's creepy now.

Theses videos are great, except for the FailBlog watermark, and the word "fail" used that way.

HOORAY FOR YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!

I have seriously lost faith in humanity.

Wow, cable adverts in the US are like the ones in the UK but taken up a notch. I laughed at the original video more, mostly 'cause of the overacting from everyone involved, but the timing of the metal songs in the second video is brilliant.

Hooray for you!

Edit: Woah, first video removed just as I posted my comment. =/

The metal one is pretty good, if it was real I'd consider getting it.

The metal version is pretty entertaining, but I'd like to hear the original.  It's too bad it got taken down so quickly.

Seems like a Saturday Night Live commercial....

I play this CD in the bathroom.

This is ridiculously stupid.

I'll take five!

I'm not even sure Ellen DeGeneres takes this product seriously.
"It's really the most hilarious thing I've heard in my life.  Everyone in the audience is getting one today!  Hooray for you! Hooray for you!"

She thinks it's "hilarious". Is that really what they're going for?

Posted by super_machine

I could have used that last week when my PS3 broke down. I defaulted to the old standby, alcohol.

Posted by Sweep

woah, i feel much better just watching these commercials! These products really do work!

Good job, internets...

Unfortunately people in this mass consumption society is relying to products like these for self-fulfillment and recognition so I don't doubt that this thing has it's place in the marketplace and probably is selling quite ok. Sad as hell, but that's how it is. Why do you think so many people are Religious in this world?

Posted by GamerGeek360

That would probably make me want to kill myself.
