Epic will have to fight this fight with every ISP, Smart Tv manufacturer, App Store, Google Play Store, Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo. They don't own any of the roads they want to travel on so they have to play ball. All of our devices and storefront are locked into one ecosystem or another. They lose this fight. Apple won't miss them.

They won't need to have this fight and they are already also taking Google to court for the same reasons. In their lawsuit documentation, Epic provide several examples of times OEMs like LG and OnePlus were stopped by Google from providing the game and microtransaction options that bypassed the Play Store.

Smart Tvs mostly all run on Android and if they don't and run on something like LGs own propitiatory OS, then there's nothing in the way of LG and Epic making a deal to have the game installed on every Smart Tv that rolls off the production line. If Google loses this case against Epic, then the Play Store that runs on Tvs and Phones will be the very same ruling.

And for Sony, MS and Nintendo, well they already won the fight against them, if you play Fortnite and have your Epic account linked, you can buy V-bucks on PC or Mobile from Epic. Those you can bring anywhere you want, even to your console. If you buy them on a console, they're tied to that console. So there's no monopoly problem there for Epic because they can just tell everyone, hey, buy your v-bucks directly from us and use them anywhere you like.

Yeah this is really interesting to watch. Seeing Epic just straight up call Apple out on their bullshit, I cannot wait to see who backs down first or if this is just something that becomes permanent. Like how many kids and teens and young adults who play Fortnite even know what that video is referencing? How many of them even know Apple made computers and not just the iPhone?

I've no real dog in this race between two multi-billion dollar companies, but I still think it's fascinating to see, to quote Patrick Klepek "Two giants, pissing in the wind"

I think the stuff that's come out about their culture and in particular the stuff about the cancelled King Arthur game makes me think that because BGE wasn't going to be a typical Ubi game it was put on the back burner.

The last time I tried to play it with friends who were new to the game it was not a good experience. This was only earlier this year.

The tutorial requires everyone to do everything, you can't combine it. If you try, it'll freak out. So you end up building multiples of everything. As people edit things, it can still freak out on the other persons screen and suddenly the building you're in is now full of rock again, but only on your game and not on your friends game.

When we finally got around to be able to fly around in space and get missions, it was a dice roll if we'd end up in the same instance as each other. Then it was a dice roll if the mission would work for us all or not. If someone died on a mission, it would fail for them but not for the others, but the others would be stuck on it because of the failed member.

I know there was a recent patch again, but I looked through the notes and saw nothing that made it sound like these problems are addressed.

For me it is definitely Life is Strange.

Life is Strange's licensed soundtrack was fantastic and fit the game perfectly. It, in combination with the excellent original soundtrack, was a key component of setting the mood throughout various parts of the game. I played this game again quite recently so I'm fairly fresh on what happened in it and where and how music was used. I do think this game has suffered the negative effects of recency bias since at this point it feels like Life is Strange came out 10000 years ago even though it only came out in 2015 so many folks have forgotten about much of it. I highly encourage anyone who hasn't played it since release to revisit it. It absolutely blew me away playing it again, even knowing roughly what happens. It's comfortably my game of the generation. The mouth animation still sucks but it is what it is.

Spoilers for the whole game because I can't talk about the soundtrack without talking about when and how the soundtrack was used:

This is the correct answer I think. To be honest it might actually be the best use of licensed music in all games.

Licensed tracks in THPS games have mostly always been great, but they're sort of just curated and good to do the already fun action of video game skating to. Trasher Skate and Destroy and Skate also had good soundtracks. THPS soundtracks definitely helped me get into music though.

But I can't think of a single game that used licensed music as well as Life is Strange did. Sure, it's a bit teen-drama (the OC), but it's so well done and they really didn't just throw any song at the game. They definitely thought about the important of each song and the time they play them at.

Not having so many options when it comes to playing games - meaning that I would play and invest time into every single game I had and get the most out of it. Now I'm absolutely spoiled for choice. Too spoiled. I had plenty of choice back then, but I never had a feeling of too much choice or that I was wasting time by playing the same game over and over and over when there was so much else to play.

@rorie: Midnight Pacific is about 8am for me in Ireland and we're basic at the closest timezone for Europe. I'd happily watch some chill MtG breakfast stream.

Yoshi could not only eat more hotdogs than Joey Chestnut, but would end the contest by eating Joey Chestnut in the last 5 seconds of regulation time, thus scoring both his own hotdogs and all the hotdogs that Joey Chestnut are.

@nexivselecaf:

Ben joked about googling every name that came up to see if they're problematic, and I hate to say this but every single dude that popped up on camera I immediately thought "so what if anything has this guy done or known and kept quiet about?". And like others I'm sick of them making political games that "aren't about politics". I cannot underestimate how funny it is that they mentioned politics for the new Assassins Creed game about Vikings like the politics of that is ok, but oh gosh no Watchdogs 2 and Far Cry 5 were just about funny hi-jinks.

It's the third best in the series and Knight is last. Arkham Knight is a really bad Arkham game.

What I find funniest now is that Origins has a suicide squad teaser and that's what Rocksteady are supposedly working on, despite them being sort of up themselves over how Origins didn't count.
