...is that another made up term? I'm a graduate student in psychology (which is why I'm so active in this thread) and I have never, ever heard that term.
Really? It's a latin term that literally means "therefor". It's actually sort of common... u,u'
@JasonR86:@Koshka: Again, that's why I asked OP what he was talking about. Look at the quote:
@1Gorebash1 said:
What he meant by the question (or at least, I think what he meant...) was "I can think of 2 games that offer no sign to the player that they are doing well/doing poorly"....so in other words it has no scores, no lives or no real sign of progress. Even the most basic of games will go "well done!" once in a while in some form or another.
We are not talking about conditioning as a whole, but about conditioning the player to discover and enact better strategies.
Yes, and you can condition a player to do certain things without explicitly giving direction to do so through game design or level design. My favorite games are the ones that portray my objective in the most subtle ways.
@Daiphyer: I live in Israel, my d/l speed on speedtest.net is a bit over 8 mb and my ISP assures me that I have that full speed provided to me. I don't know what the hell it is that's keeping my internet from getting unleashed like it should.. I actually used to go Progressive, but noticed that it takes ages to actually load, so when I switched to Streaming recently, it started playing as soon as I clicked play and barely pauses at all.
I had the -exact- same problem here. ATT said they were giving us 4mbs when, in reality, they were ripping us off and throttling down to 600kbs. We switched over and it doubled. Fucking bullshit. They really do rip people off hard.
Now I know people here hate FF because... hipsters and all that
You're what's wrong with the internet.
Let's just marginalized all complaints and criticism by calling people "haters' and "hipsters," that way we don't have to actually examine the things we like critically because nothings ever wrong with them.
I don't say things like "FFwhatever" was bad game... but I don't like them. What the hell makes me a hipster because I simply don't enjoy any of the Final Fantasy games...?
Probably because you are superceded by dumb people that say stuff like "all final fantasy games are bad and that will never ever change." The loudest and most hyperbolic statements get the most attention, for better or for worse. Kinda why the OP's comments of anyone disliking FF is a hipster, a hyperbolic comment unto itself, is getting so much attention.
Sometimes I feel like I'm a bit too blind to inflammatory comments. I never did do well on internet forums... u,u'
