I have said it before and will say it again: I Love Contra. Yes, even the L in Love is uppercase. In my humble, and factual, opinion this series was the first and has remained one of if not the pinnacle of badassery in the gaming world. Playing the game on easy can even be a challenge and easy is nothing more than a practice run to advance you up to normal.
Contra III: Alien Wars was a staple in my childhood. I never owned a SNES but several friends did and we'd try our hardest just to kill the friggin giant turtle at the end of the first level. Contra 4 shares all the nostalgia from the good ol' days and puts it in your hands. A few new additions such as the grappling hook and the weapon upgrades make game even more thrilling than the its predecessors. The Challenge mode is also great, unlocking extra characters to play as well as the original Contra and Super C! Now to see what Konami makes for the 3DS! Maybe a sequel to Hard Corps...
