yeah... I got pulled over for listening to my iPod while I was driving.  This is my first offense... ever.  I thought that the guy would cut me some slack and send me off with a warning since it's my first offense and all but... he didn't. 
 
I was listening to the Bombcast btw.  I don't know if that justifies my actions.  What dyou guys (and gals) think? 
 
EDIT:  And I think I'll get an FM Radio Transmitter... apparently they're inexpensive. 

You need to hear while driving. Its justified.

Why is your ipod not hooked to your car stereo so you can listen through that? Obviously your fault :)

I have my iphone on a fm transmitter doc so i can just reach over and tap the next song thing while I am driving. I listen to the bombcast when I drive sometimes, but why would you drive with headphones?

I don't see how headphones are that different from a car stereo that's turned way up, to be honest.  A lot of people do that, why are headphones being targeted?

Cuz I don't have a fancy dock like that, my commute is an hour and forty minutes, and I like listening to the Bombcast. "

I have never heard of this offense. If you can use a phone while you drive, they suggest hands free methods. Besides a bluetooth base and speakerphone, any other option will include something being in your ear. Also, playing music loudly isn't an offense is it? This makes no sense. I too use my ipod at times, specifically for the bombcast. My car doesn't have an aux jack and all the radio transmitters I used are shit.

In my Mercedes, my iPhone automatically connects into the dock so I can just stream the movies, songs, and other media from my car's dashboard.  Look into buying a dock for your car or something...but damn man, please tell me you don't live in the North Eastern of USA.  Why do you listen to headphones?!

I'm guessing you're somewhat new to driving?  Yeah, it's a violation and it seems to be a cheap one.

It is an offense, I see people with them in their ears while driving all the time, its dangerous. I don't want to be on the road with people like that. They are a distraction, with them on your main focus is your hearing, you need to be able to hear, noises around you. Just because people have their music up loud doesn't mean thats jusified either. 
 
Also, you don't need a fancy system in your car. just a car adapter that hooks into your car jack and turn your system to AUX.  
 
With more technology available, there is more distractions on the road. On the bright side, It could be worse. At least you wern't texting on your phone whilst driving. That's worse.

It sounds weird to be illegal at first, but it makes sense. You don't block all external sound by listening to something in your headphones. Just use the external speakers or something.

IDk, I learned that wearing headphones/earbuds while driving was not okay when I first started driving. It's in the learner's handbook. I don't know if it's a ticket-able offense everywhere, but it definitely is here and always has been.
You can plug your iPod into the car stereo easily enough. I have a tape player in my car only, but there are tape adapters you can get for like a dollar on Amazon.

In my state I believe it is legal to have one headphone in, but not both.  In other words, those blue tooth ear pieces that fit over one ear are legal to use while driving.   But, I personally don't use a cell while driving.  (Actually, I rarely even carry a cell.)

Of course, texting is much worse.  You get a guy who is driving 15 mph slower than everyone else or doesn't realize traffic has started moving and you just know it's going to be some douche texting.

Justified.  Plus, its pretty explicit in most states that it is illegal to do so.

I'll spare you the "don't wear headphones while driving, idiot" talk but you're lucky, $55 is nothing. Friend got $350 fine for talking on his cell phone, so just obey the rules and don't complain when you get caught breaking them. We need more safe drivers out there.
