Funding on the page has been suspended. I'm guessing this is 100% due to the fact that they don't make the actual purpose of the project (gamified blood donation during a national blood shortage) obvious.

I think the project is well-intentioned but they advertised this in the most terrible way possible.

Mostly I just queue up a couple of MBMBaM episodes or a Giant Bombcast and start playing something mindless like CoD multiplayer or some Diablo.

When I lived with a girlfriend, I scheduled it around the day I had off when she was at work. Nowadays, I just do it whenever I feel like catching up.

@driadon: I hardly think that's the worst thing he does, even just on that album. I love Kanye, but you kind of can't have a Kanye album without some truly cringe-inducing shit.

This is a good read! I finished MGS2 a couple of years after it came out, since I didn't really grasp all the gameplay changes right away and gave up on it for a bit. But when I finally got into the meat of the game, it definitely blew my mind. Not only do I agree that it plays the best out of any of the MGS games (except maybe Ground Zeroes), but the story and the way it's told were insane for the time. Kind of still are - how many games work their narrative themes in so completely? I get that people don't like Raiden and I don't really blame them, but there is so much more going on in MGS2 than just a whiny protagonist.

@theveteran13 I am with you 100%, I really feel like you can completely skip 3 and not miss anything (except for some insight into Ocelot, but he's basically played off as comic relief in 3 anyway). It has a lot of interesting ideas, but I'd rather play any other (numbered) game in the series over 3.

I think he liked it, but the way he talks about it, I would be surprised if it was his number one.

Still, I know Brad was talking about having trouble even coming up with 5 games for his top 10, so... I guess it's all up in the air for everyone.

It was an off year, but it's also still the first year of the new generation. It's always rough.

EDIT: They actually just want to use this as an incentive to donate blood. Basically, make blood donation into a game so more people are willing to do it. Seems like a pretty innocuous plan, really, but they NEED to make that more clear up front. Quote from the KS page:

We are simply creating the gaming hardware that will allow us to get gamers thinking about more important issues while still doing what they love. I... think you might be confused about Freudian psychology. Or Oedipus. Or both.

I would also recommend skipping to Soul Reaver instead, I think it holds up better and I've always thought it was the better game to begin with.

It should be noted that I have no particular affinity for the series as a whole, though, so that probably colors my perception.
