just starting out at a gym can be very daunting. I remember when I started playing high school football and having to compare myself to people who were practically grown-ass men. But there are some tips that helped me that can probably help you as well.

You can go down one or two paths that are usually very successful for people. One path is joining a class that the gym organizes or leads. That could be anything from Yoga to kick boxing. Having company is a good way to keep you coming back and also reinforces that you aren't alone in your endeavor.

The next option is going solo, which can be very successful, or not, depending on the type of person you are. When you go solo, the name of the game is going into the gym with a plan, sticking to it, and getting out. The key is to really focus on what you're doing in the moment and nothing else. Ideally, you walk into the gym with a workout already pre-made, you follow the plan, and leave when you're done. If you take it seriously enough, the focus on you're form should block out the gaze of others from your mind. If you're very self-conscious about starting out, go on off hours. Usually in the early morning or middle of the day.

I will also say that going to a gym is by no means the only way to live a health lifestyle. I know plenty of people who never lift weights and workout on their own doing mostly cardio that look every bit as healthy and fit as someone who lifts 5 days a week. I myself was on the triathlon team in college and weight lifting bros would ask me what lifts I was doing and they would be stunned when I told them that I was as muscular as I am because I swam and ate extra protein to maintain the muscles.

Diet is really the limiting factor though in getting on the right track. Having a high protein diet thats low in fat is what will cause that changes you want in your appearance. The whole reason you partner the exercise with the food is so that the food can rebuild and strengthen your body when you put it under stress from the exercise.

I hope you reach your goals. And remember, the only opinion about your body that matters is your own. Good luck!

@opusofthemagnum: I'm only running one monitor right now, I haven't figured out how to view programs that are open but I have tried shutting down Origin when the game is running and that didn't seem to change anything. I'm a little afraid to get too hands on with files and programs because I know that changing one thing will have cascading effects on other programs and I'm not technically proficient enough to forecast what those are or fix something more serious that editing a text file or flipping a setting in a menu. I realize that if you game on PC you have to be ready to put up with some fiddling now and again, I just want to avoid a situation where I can't easily undue crucial aspects of the system without serious intervention.

Hey everyone. I got a new computer and after being away from PC gaming since middle school (about 2008). I've been playing some recent stuff like PUBG, Battlefield 1, Titanfall 2 (that campaign tho), and Into the Void to test out my machine and I'm interested to hear what you all think are some games from the last 5 years you would recommend for me to check out. I'm open to any and all suggestions, my machine is pretty good and I'm open to any genre you can recommend. I don't have VR (*Yet*), so that's out of the picture. Have fun with it and thanks for your time.

@mike: I did. It actually kind of worked but I was still getting similar issues with performance. This issue is wapecially baffeling because I’m now playing Titanfall and that game runs like a dream. So I feel pretty confident in ruling out Origin as the culprit. My best guess is that my bootcamp environment is an issue. But, I’m still glad I’m getting better performance from this machine than my consoles were able to get. Granted, I haven’t seen a ps4 pro or xbox one x in the wild.

@mike: I could try that. What is Fullscreenizer? What's the difference between full screen and borderless?

So I got a new machine and I decided to load up a few games to test out the specs. I got Battlefield 1, PUBG, Into The Void, and Titanfall 2. PUBG runs like a dream, I can run at 1080p, 60 fps, all day long. Into the Void is a different thing but that game runs quite well too. Battlefield 1 however, seems to be the one glaring issue. I can run the game on Ultra at 1080p+ with 60 fps, but I have to do it windowed. I've gone into the graphics settings and every time I try to set the game up to run in full screen, the game tries and then reverts back to what it was running at before. Is this a common issue with PC games? Is this something that is unique to origin games? What are some things I can do to get some better performance out of the game? If there are other basic fixes I can try for games running on PC in general, please let me know. Thanks!

For reference, here are my specs:

2017 iMac running all games on a Windows 10 bootcamp partition

gpu: Radeon 570

Ram: 40 gb DDR4

Display: 27-inch 5K retina

@flagranterror: Thanks for the perspective. I also looked up a bunch of videos on youtube of people doing benchmark tests in gta and seeing what kind of results they get with the basic specs and it's pretty good from what I see. Adding in a bunch of ram upfront will probably get me where I want to be. Appreciate it.
