" Friendly fire has always been in the game. It's on by default... Also, an even harder difficulty? No thanks. "
Current friendly fire does very little damage. It was so small that I did not mind getting shot in the back if it meant my teammate was getting more aliens killed. This new mode means a single friendly fire could ruin your entire mission.
" @Levio: I wasn't even aware that there were hard "classes" in the game. I thought I'd heard you could mix and match abilities according to what you have equipped, FFIX-style. (Consider this my admission that I have no interest in FFXIV and have paid only fleeting attention to the intricacies of its design.) "
Whatever weapon you are holding is your current class. So a high level Lancer can put on a wand and become a low level Conjurer, and switch back to his high level Lancer by putting on the Lance.
Which is why this announcement is pretty trivial for non-hardcore players. A fatigued Lancer can just opt to train either another combat class or even his useful crafting professions with the swap of a weapon.
EDIT: Apparently it's not all of your characters, but the fatigue is spread across the same class. "
Considering there are a ton of classes to choose from, and you can switch at any moment (no need to reroll), you appear to have blown this way out of proportion. Its simply limiting characters from over-specializing in a class. Thanks for the spam.
Oh and love how your thread title is a complete lie.
