Just bought this game from gog.com it was on sale for $6.99

so far i like it. i recently beat baldurs gate ii so im pretty familiar with the 2 edition rules for combat. i really like how you can create all six of your characters. i actually prefer this to just making one leading character and recruiting members along the way.

I recently finished this game myself. Once I got to chapter 7 I really had no motivation to go on (maybe because I had been playing the hell out of it the last couple weeks) but I trudged through it anyway. As for the story I wouldnt really say its one of the best of all time (as I have read many times). I think i enjoyed the game mostly because of how huge the world was and all the side quests. Imoen gets captured early on in the game and you have to save her, but it really just seems if you wanted to you could just run around for 100 hours doing every little side quest and pretend that she never existed. The combat was good, but you definately need to read wtf each spell does, know wtf thac0 is, etc etc.

Not sure if i will play the expansion. I think I will give Icewind dale a try instead.

I like the idea of old classic games being made available, I would drop money for that.

I think Im kind of in between. being able to see your enemies is good when you dont want to mess with lesser enemies when wanting to travel from point A to point B as quickly as possible. On the downside I would say Im skipping more battles instead or saying F*** it might as well fight it out because it dragged me into this thing. as a result my characters I feel are weaker.

So are you guys for or against random encounters?
