Let Us Count The Plotholes

In Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Spoilers, obviously.

  • Hmmm... Let's start with surviving a lightsaber through the chest, being smashed into like three walls, then thrown out a window into the FUCKING VACUUM OF SPACE. And surviving. Needing nothing but an arm brace.
  • Being able to bring down a gorram (yes I said gorram. Watch Firefly dammit) Star Destroyer, but not pick up an AT-ST, or stop the Rogue Shadow (Darkside ending)
  • EVERYBODY FORGETTING ABOUT THE FOUNDER OF THE REBEL ALLIANCE BEFORE A NEW HOPE
  • Luke never ever running into General Kota, despite the fact that they're two of the few remaining Jedi, and both key Alliance commanders
  • The Rebel Founders completely IGNORING a giant fucking space station with a laser big enough to destroy planets for three years before deciding to do anything about it.
  • Bail Organa not GTFOing Alderraan when he saw said giant fucking space station jump in-system in A New Hope
  • PROXY using the Force when you fight him O_O
  • Oh, also, Vader totally uses Force Lightning in the boss fight against him (Well, you can lightning lock with him), which would totally be impossible, seeing as Vader has mechanical hands and all.

Also, no one bothered explaining the significance of this symbol to Luke apparently.

Those complaints aside, I really actually did enjoy the story of TFU immensely. I wish it had fleshed out the character interactions a bit more, as I certainly wouldn't have minded spending a bit more time with these characters, seeing as there's zero chance of a sequel or extending Starkiller's story.I would have loved to see some of the search for General Kota, or even just some of the conversations between Juno and Starkiller, or more of Starkiller and PROXY. They're all good characters, and the underlying story is a great one, but I wish it could have been given some more time.

The story was great, the gameplay not as much. I honestly didn't think it was as bad as some made it out to be, but honestly, it's just not up to par with today's action games. However, the stellar Force powers certainly make up for the weak Lightsaber combat, as flinging Stortroopers around with the Force never gets old to me. I'm going for 1000/1000 points, just need a few mastery achievements, which are easy, but time-consuming.

Final verdict: Great story, decent gameplay, glitchy as hell, but still something I'm glad to own. Review may be coming if I ever get around to it. Also: Cheat Code Guide for it. GIVE ME CLIIIICCCCKKKSSS!

Tons of plotholes. I blame Lucas for screwing up his own Universe.

Well I agree with you on all your points, but I still think it's only minor. Okay the first one about the thrown into the space vacuum and staying alive doesn't make sense I'll admit that. The inconsistency on how strong his force powers were, I agree. Kind of sucks that there's a continuity error in that he was a founder of the rebel alliance, but there is still room to fix this or make assumptions IMO. But yeah, no mention of him at all and it's only been a few years does suck. The whole Kota thing, I agree it doesn't make sense. Wasn't it implied in the movies that Yoda and Kenobi were the last remaining Jedi? So unless Kota was killed within those years (could be possible), then it's still a problem, not a minor problem but not a major one imo because he was barely introduced in TFU. Next, I guess you could say they weren't ignoring the space station, but trying to gather enough people to launch an attack on it. Because blindly attacking that place with no plan = death. PROXY using the force was weird, maybe it wasn't the force but just technology that looks like the force? It was still awesome seeing him as Kenobi and Maul though.

All that's true (especially PROXY using the Force wow I didn't realize that!) but as for the Death Star I figure Bail and company didn't know it was any different from a regular space station when they were on it. Also you know they'll come out with a bunch of expanded universe stories within the coming years, so they won't be plotholes for long....

These are not plot holes. These are force holes.

Also I have not played Star Wars: The Force Unleashed yet.

I was planning on renting this tomorrow when I went to buy Disgaea DS, can't afford to buy it right now.

Good job on the guide too.

Finally finished the game and I didn't like the ending too much. Like you said, way too many plot holes...I still dont get how you die in the light side ending...Didn't like the game too much. Wayyy too much annoying stuff in the game.

1. Starkiller does NOT survive the stabbing and thrown out the window incident, he was revived by Vader.
2. Not being able to pick up a walker is simply part of the gameplay. The Rogue Shadow being thrown at him happened all too quickly.
3. Retcon. I'm sure they'll be referring to Starkiller in future books and games.
4. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that a sourcebook says Kota was killed after the game ended.
5. The rebel leaders did try to do something about it. They spent 2 years compiling the schematics, which was completed right before A New Hope began.
6. I don't think you can flee a planet THAT quickly.
7. Its just gameplay, the only canonical things you see are the cutscense.
8. I don't ever recall Vader using Lightning, I do remember force locks though. If he did use it, its just for gameplay

I think Force Unleashed is an underrated game. I have not experienced any bugs at all in my copy of the game, I think it froze once. Lucas did not screw up his own universe. I don't know if you are into the books and overall expanded universe, but I am probably the biggest Star Wars nerd you'll ever come across. I played the game and approved of its story and placement with little to no plot holes.
