I would not be surprised if they under delivered the Xbox One to create that mythical Wii sales trick...where there aren't enough around so people start running around looking for deals and/or paying higher prices to get one because they're not "generally available". The Xbox One is totally incompatible with my 360 library so it makes it a no sale for me.

Not interested in Xbox One. I'm kind of hoping it flops big time. Ever since they added the DLC feature the whole thing was going downhill in my eyes. Plus the never-have-a-sale-never XBL store that I pay a monthly fee to have things sold to me (for yet more cash). No support for my 360 library was my nail the final nail in the coffin for me.

I'm just looking for confirmation. It's the deal breaker for me & if BC isn't there, then I'm going to be buying a ZOTAC upgrade for my PC rather than saving cash for an Xbox One.

I was really unimpressed. First, the industrial design is a backward step at a time when aesthetics really matter in electronics. This looks like it's trying to replace the DVR, not just in terms of features but also appearance. It's also trying to be everything to everyone and totally losing focus in the process. The first 25 minutes were all about the TV functionality, most of which won't be relevant to the majority of Xbox owners who don't live in the US. Of those that do, I think the majority would consider the games the priority which speaks volumes about how MS is not in touch with its user base. Games come first with apps and other functionality an added benefit (depending on your point of view). Then, when they finally spoke about the games, there's the multitude of issues that they didn't address properly - the backwards compatibility, the rumours about second-hand games, etc. I've had an Xbox 360 since day one and I don't want to know that my massive library of games will be totally worthless to me once my fifth console goes the same way that the previous four did. Upgrading shouldn't mean starting from scratch and rendering worthless thousands of bucks worth of stuff.

I could go on forever, but I'm in line with many of the views expressed around the web today which is that I'm underwhelmed.

I agree. I've bought Collector's Editions of 360 games & now they'll be worthless. I'll never buy a Collector's Edition of anything on consoles again as I can now firmly state that console designers won't care about whether I can play them on the next console iteration. I feel ripped off. Thanks Microsoft.

Man! It looks like a BIG, UGLY DESKTOP PC! :-( I can build a better looking PC for my Living Room that would be more aesthetically pleasing to look at. And you're right bmccann42: It appears to be a sports box.

Well, let's see what Sony has on offer. Maybe I'll switch, or retreat back to my PC as the only gaming platform to care about.

Is it bad I'm just not sold on the Xbox One? I hate the name, and it almost seems like a system specifically designed for the "dude-bro" demographic. Football, Call of Duty, more football. etc etc.

I was more likely to buy a game that didn't have DLC than I was to buying any game with DLC, unless it was very, very good. Like Mass Effect 3. So I bet either the secondary market was being killed for those following the same mindset, or the secondary market was taking over because everyone was avoiding DLC products. Either way they were losing money. I've always thought it was a bad idea & after it started, I've bought a lot fewer games. I've switched to Steam and Steam Sales & never looked back.

One day someone will realize that a good Aliens game can't just be a generic shooter and make an interesting one. One day. Maybe. But probably not.

I could go for an X-Com style turn based game set in an alien Universe with more event based maps instead of big square rooms. Would make the permadeath/small squad thing work out well too. Like from the get go you get a set number of people sent in to explore a space station and you gotta send people out to uncover the secret to how it all happened/survive until the escape ship comes and you get no re enforcements at all. Make it a research base so that you have an excuse to find unlocks and upgrades as you go along. Throw in some soldiers that come pre-ranked up and a bunch of rookies. If all of your people die it's game over. Man.

I really wish they had embraced Obsidian & built that Aliens RPG that they had on offer. It seems that whenever Aliens(c) is involved in some new movie, game, or merchandise, the people in charge are the worst kind & always make the worst decision for the brand. They don't seem to care what happens to it despite what they might say or do, with all the high praise, prior to its release. I felt that way, after seeing Aliens 3, Resurrection was better, then everything else afterwards has been pretty awful. I think an original XBOX came out that had some sort of Aliens RTS that looked like it could have been interesting. Sadly it was one of those games that couldn't run on the 360.

Maybe Firaxis could license an Aliens(c) DLC in their XCOM Enemy Unknown game? I'd pay for that. I'd love to have my squaddies blow 'em away.

I like 3rd Person, but Console only? I'm hesitant about buying any Console games until I find out what the backwards compatibility systems will be capable of. I basically haven't bought an Xbox game since 2011 (though I got Halo 4 for Xmas, other games Dishonored and & the new XCOM, I got on Steam instead...since I'm slow to start a new game).
