http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/us-bill-wants-cigarette-style-warnings-on-game-cases/093134

An astonishing new bill proposed in the US argues that video games should carry similar warning labels to those found on cigarettes.

TheHill.com reports that The Violence in Video Games Labelling Act “is a reaction to what the two members say is increasing evidence that playing violent games can have a serious, long-lasting impact on children, which should require a health warning to consumers.”

Representative Joe Baca stated: "The video game industry has a responsibility to parents, families and to consumers — to inform them of the potentially damaging content that is often found in their products.

"They have repeatedly failed to live up to this responsibility. The proposed labelling system would apply to all games, regardless of their age rating, with the exception of EC (Early Childhood) titles.

US trade body The Entertainment Software Association responded to the moves in a statement to Game Informer: “The ESA supports providing parents with complete and useful information so they can make informed purchasing decisions. The current video game rating system does so and has been lauded as the leading rating system in the entertainment industry.

“Unfortunately, Representative Baca’s facially [sic] unconstitutional bill—which has been introduced to no avail in each of six successive Congressional sessions, beginning in 2002—needlessly concerns parents with flawed research and junk science.

“Numerous medical experts, research authorities, and courts across the country, including the United States Supreme Court, exhaustively reviewed the research Representative Baca uses to base his bill and found it lacking and unpersuasive. Independent scientific researchers found no causal connection between video games and real life violence.”

I don't see what the problem is. So the terrorists are being trained to survive on their HUD telling them every single thing they need to do like they are a 5 year old?

I thing we'll be ok.

My issues consist of my friend ABUSING the wingsuit.

I don't like that the tricks and races all seem to be lumped together on all courses.. i'd have been fine with some. But the trick events should have felt a little more independent.

No real time multiplayer sucks as well.

Love the deadly descents though.

Yeah I’m late to the party but shhh alright?

Bastion tells the story of ‘The Kid’, and his journey to collect giant shards to power a giant floating structure called the Bastion. The game is broken up into short action-packed levels that are meaty enough with the number of enemies, but doesn’t stray too far into repetition. The attack system is simple with one button for short melee attacks, one button for long ranged weapons and one for a special technique. Unlike many action games the combat isn’t based on combos but more on the different weapons for each button and finding a system that works to your preference. This is where the RPG element comes in and it works well. As you progress further into the game you can find a multitude of weapons and have the chance to further the abilities of each weapon as well. Because of this though, there is the feeling of a slight lack of depth that comes with this approach to the combat. Hopefully this is something that can be looked into if a sequel is ever made.

The story is narrated every step of the way by a nameless narrator. Personally it gets a bit tiresome that every single action and event needs some form of narration. But the approach is very stylish and credit is given for the presentation. The game is easily one of the most beautiful games on Xbox live. The graphical style and colours pop out and the animation is slick and fluid. Also the soundtrack is gorgeous and complements the game perfectly.

The story is a little lacking and I never found myself truly being absorbed by the plot. But it never delved into style-over-substance, and there is a driving force that keeps the player going.

For 1200 points this is a game that is highly recommended and is absolutely worth your time and money.
