To clear this whole thing up for you guys, Jeff made a post on the "editing & tools" forum:
Just to clarify for everyone, Person pages are only for people who have been credited in at least one game. A licensed appearance in a football game doesn't count. Except in rare cases where an athlete makes the end credits for consulting or whatever, they should not be in our database as Persons.
Character pages for licensed figures who appear in sports games are totally fine.
"Brett Favre is not "a video game character". He's an athlete, virtually replicated in Madden videogames. Simply stating "if you don't like it, stay off the page", isn't really solving anything- it's just shying away from the argument. The fact is that if you allow real people that appear in video games to the characters section, then it will literally be flooded with presidents, athletes, celebrities etc that appear in videogames, but are not designed specifically for them, which is what a videogame character is. It's the same with pro skaters from Tony Hawk's Pro Skater... and the bottom line is that if you want to look up Brett Favre, go to wikipedia or nfl.com or whatever, because this site is about videogames, and the fact that Brett Favre appears in the Madden games is about all their is to say about him that has anything to do with videogames. He needs to be removed."
Favre is in the game madden and therefore is a video game character. It's really that simple to understand. Please show me the where it says real people in video games are not video game characters. So what if there is not a lot to say? What does that have to do with anything. Last time I checked there is not much to say about Mario, maybe we should get rid of that page to. I don't see see the "flooding" you guys keep talking about as only a few players have their own page. This site is about video games and everything related to them including characters, which Favre is.
And for Shasam: Who said they have to be fictional characters?
What section (or sections) of Tamriel do you think the next Elder Scrolls game is going to take place in? How crazy would it be if they made the game cover the whole continent.
Do you me with NPCs? or Real people? I'm sure you will be able to drop stuff for others to pick up in co-op. As for NPCs, Peter M. confirmed that they took the merchant job out of Fable 2. Don't ask me why.
You can play the entire single player in co-op and you can do all of the jobs; you can even get drunk together. This is not going to be as lame as GTA.
