I'm really not. I have to throw myself at something over and over and over again before I really start to get ticked, and sometimes even then I don't get ticked. My husband and daughter.... they're not so calm.
@Ocean_H: Although I can think of much one could do with what brand of credit card I have, I hope you'll understand if I'm weary of handing out personal info. Also, It has been nearly a month and this has not been cleared up. I have talk to Microsoft every week and generally the same answer, the department that handles compromised accounts is backed up and that my case is still pending investigation. To me this means two things: First, that lots of xbox live accounts have been hacked and secondly, xbox accounts are too damn easy to hack. This is just speculation, but that's all I can do right now, and thus why I reached out to the GB community. Worst of all, my account has been suspended till the investigation is over, so I'm locked out of a service I pay for because of some asshole with too much time on his hands.
Welcome to having a digital account hacked. World of Warcraft players know exactly what you're going through. They get hacked, their virtual goods are all sold off, their account is used for "gold-selling," then the account gets suspended for illicit activities. Then they go through the same run-around to get their account restored and maybe get their stuff restored. It's not limited to Microsoft by any stretch of the imagination, but as you noted, you're speculating, based on your own experience, that tons of people must be having this experience. I think we'd hear more of an uproar though, especially given that people were unable to use PSN, and many turned to XBL in the meantime.
@froesti: Their corrupt government is also one of the big reasons. But even if we legalized weed, there would still be problems in Mexico because of the other illicit drugs that travel through. Wiki is a source to be skeptical of, of course, but according to it, 70% of all narcotics come through Mexico. 90% of cocaine. Etc. Honestly, we can't know either way if it would change, but I think there would still be problems unless the law were changed to the opposite extreme to make everything legal. There would still be some violence for a while though, while the cartels fight to figure out who would be our distributors. Because even if we make the stuff legal, it would still come through the cartels.
First non-kiddie boyfriend was in 10th grade. I dumped him because he wanted to do stuff I wasn't ready to do. Then the asshole tried telling friends we did stuff anyway. First serious one started just before my junior year in high school, and ended during winter break the year of college after high school. He just said he didn't love me anymore, then transferred schools and stuff. Eh, I got over it fairly quickly I think.
@melcene: Its all perspective. Personal preference. You will make a very fine fascist someday.
Really? Why's that? Nowhere in this thread did I state a personal preference either way. But thank you for picking me out of all the people who basically said it's the law - deal with it, or clean up if you want the job, or your choice of one of the other responses that may not have been to your liking. I'm honored that of all of them, my response really stood out to you.
It doesn't matter how ridiculous a law is. If you want to participate in a society, you have to follow its rules.
Ahhh yes but how do rules and injustices see change? How did the people win back the right to drink? How did women win the right to vote? It starts with getting people interested in the concept of change, and goes form there.
People didn't "win" back the right to drink - the mobs basically made it so that it needed to be reinstated to avoid so much of the violence and illegal activities. If it weren't for the mob, alcohol would probably still be illegal. We don't have that level of violence over weed.
Women won the right to vote by (a) changing the minds of men, and (b) going about changing the laws the legal way. It's not like we won the right to vote because we were sneaking in and doing it illegally anyway.
