So far I have beaten Mom 11 times, beaten Sheol thrice. (Cain, Isaac, and Judas)

During my last attempt with Maggy I was set; I had Mom's Knife, Mom's Bra, the 9 volt battery, Mom's Contact, the relic, and 10 hearts coming into Sheol. But of course I had to go through the entire level before I found out where the Boss Room was. No one dropped a heart (I'm sure that's on purpose for the level.) I was still pretty confident, I mean that is a pretty nice line of power ups there. I have been killing all the bosses leading up to it before Mom's Bra could even wear off. But nope, I died. Haven't touch the game since.

Well, when you get to the Heart if you have been playing well, you're pretty powerful. Just stay in one side and avoid the bombs it throws.

@MikeGosot: The Parasites? Or the the laser ones? Only thing you have to do is take care of them first. After that it's easier than Mom.

Hahaha. I like this play-by-play commentary. Funny thing about the shovel. You can use it to get the "no damage" achievement, but only if you use it on the 1st floor of each "area".

Doesn't Lucky Foot has the same effect as PHD? Also, the good thing about not taking damage, is that your Pacts with The Devil are always worth it. And can you use Blood Donation Machines and still get the achievements?

Lucky Foot is luck. PHD is better pills. Things like items dropped, stuff in the item rooms, Satan rooms, chances and results in the Arcade room have all a luck factor in them. Lucky Foot gives you better odds at these kind of stuff.

I don't know about the Blood Donation Machines. But, you really don't need them, so why bother?

Then, well, then you just to have to mix luck with skill. That's why Cain is good, because he takes care of the luck side of things. All you need to do is play well.

@MikeGosot: Mom is the harder part of the game, imo. When you get to play with Cain, everything feels easier. Lucky Foot is great. Now all you have to do is S-rank the game :)

9 hours played, and I finally got to mom only to have her beat me when she was almost beaten.

I beat her my first try as well. I didn't announce it to the world though :( I also can't get back to her either. I tried loading it back up for the Steam achievement stuff, and the game just ran too poorly for it to be feasible to even try getting to Mom, much less trigger the achievement.

@MikeGosot: Brimstone allows you to shoot a laser beam from one side of the screen to the other that ignores rocks, armor, etc and assuming you have a good amount of power will just 1 shot most enemies.  It's particularly useful on bosses with adds because you can kill all the adds in 1 attack while also doing plenty of damage to the boss. Technology is a similar item you can simply find in item rooms, but it doesn't do near as much damage nor does it reach from one side of the screen to the other.

@MikeGosot: The first 6 times I beat the game was with maggy, which really just speaks to how diverse you can be when it comes to playstyle. Based on your love of dead bird and the whore it seems you aren't overly defensive, personally those are 2 of my least favorite items. If you haven't figured it out yet the less damage you take on a floor the higher chance you have of summoning a satan room after completing a boss which can be used to get a lot of great items (Brimstone being my go-to item personally as if used correctly you can walk into a room and immediately kill everything in 1 shot).

@MikeGosot: My recommendation is, if you collect enough coins - say 30 - then hit a slot machine (you can also summon one with a tarot card). If you're lucky, the thing eventually explodes and you get a big stinking dollar (well, 99 cents to be exact). It'll give you the achievement and you don't need to then go on to complete the game to unlock him. Just quit out and get on that shit double time. Enjoy spamming the shit out of everything with the lazer eye thing combined with the charge power up.

I couldn't eve get past the 3rd of 4th floor. I haven't played that games in ages.

It really helped though that I had a bunch of really awesome power ups from making deals with the devil so I could shoot charged up beams of blood out of my mouth for an absurd amount of damage. Course, I can't say that I didn't die, but since I bought 9 lives from the devil, it didn't matter that I died (though, me dying was then also entirely my fault, since deals with the devil cost you your hearts permanently and I didn't understand that until the second time through the game, buuuuut) congrats on not dying at all!

Yeah, but now you need to kill her again, and then her heart, which sucks. And then I think Jesus/Satan/God are next. Good replay value though, Cain's lucky foot thing is super useful (all pills have good effects).
