If you want a quirky/weird game that most people missed I recommend Chibi Robo!

Starsiege Tribes back in '98! There might have been ones that I played briefly before that but tribes was definitaly the one that really made me think that this 'online multiplayer' thing might actually catch on.

A late reply to a late post! I just picked up this game for cheap as I avoided it when it came out due to the negative reviews. I find myself really enjoying it! I'm only about 10 hours in so I can't judge it too much but I have enjoyed the story so far. Its very generic but the characters are entertaining and I haven't found anyone to be unbearably annoying yet. The cheesy bits are so full of cheese that I cheer it on as if I was watching Godzilla or Macross.

I agree that the world does feel a bit like an empty MMO (FFXII had the same problem) but the geography is beautiful and fun to explore. The battle system is interesting enough to keep me engaged and the fact that all armor/weapons shows up on your character strokes my inner loot lust.

I haven't messed around with the Geonet stuff and I am not sure if anyone is playing this game anymore so who knows if I ever will but it seems like an interesting concept.

Seeing how this game can be bought for so cheap now I'd say it is worth a purchase for anyone who is even mildly curious about it. You never know, you may find yourself enjoying it as much as I have.
