Here's part 2 of my 3 part TheBeatles: Rock Band song wish list. You can find part 1, which includes a sort of mission statement for the list and the tracks from the albums Please Please Me through Beatles For Sale, here.
This installment includes tracks from Help!, Rubber Soul, Revolver, and Sergeant Pepper's, as well as a couple of singles and a track from the Magical Mystery Tour soundtrack.
That's it for this installment. The final list will include tracks from The Beatles (The White Album), Abbey Road, and Let It Be, some singles, and a track from the Yellow Submarine soundtrack.
Feel free to tell me how much you hate my list and what horrible taste in music I have, but keep in mind, these aren't my favorite Beatles songs. I most certainly like just about all of these, but most of my favorites aren't suitable for a Rock Band type game.
I wouldn't consider myself a rabid Beatles fan by any measure. As a student of popular music I'm more inclined to think that someone of my age can't be a rabid Beatles fan in this day. It would be sort of like someone saying they're a die hard Shakespeare fan. Similar to a literati's feelings about Shakespeare, I truly enjoy The Beatles' work and respect the vast contributions they've made to popular music, but not having lived while they were actually a functional band I can't feel comfortable calling myself a huge fan.
That being said, I am, however, a rabid Rock Band fan and am of course eagerly awaiting The Beatles themed installment slated for release in September. I've put together a list of 45 songs - the originally reported number of tracks in the game - I would put into a Beatles game. This list is by no means an attempt at a prediction, although I would bet that my list and the real thing will have many similarities, nor is it a list of my favorite Beatles songs, many of those just wouldn't make sense in a Rock Band game, "Blue Jay Way" or "A Day In The Life" for example. I'll be rolling it out in three installments, each listing the tracks from four albums, except part three which will include five albums, and the singles from those albums' time period.
I know and that's what makes it so incredible. There are photos from the set and everything. The only part of this that I'm skeptical about is Arnold's involvement, but even that made it onto Rotten Tomatoes which I know is far more discriminating with its cast and crew information than IMDB.
Not sure if there's been any discussion about this flick, but I know this will be right up the alley of some folks on this site (Jeff I'm looking at you).
Written, directed and starring Sly Stallone. He plays the head of a team of mercenaries sent to take out a South American dictator. Yeah, I know, that sounds pretty lame, but the rest of the cast will make your head explode:
Jason Statham Jet Li Mickey Rourke Dolph Lundgren Stone Cold Steve Austin UFC great Randy Couture And last but not least....Arnold Schwarzenegger
Wow I'm really surprised to see my Vermin page on here. I remember when I initially submitted a giant rat page popped up soon after and I kinda figured my page was dead. It must be the image...
Beowulf is harder to defend than Macbeth, but come on he rips Grendel's arm off and mounts it in the castle hall.
In all seriousness though, yes they can be completely dry and boring, but at the same time there is just this strange level of rediculousness at points that, at least for me, makes them oddly lovable.
