Freshman lab class is freshman lab class..  If your partners suck, do the whole project your self and learn from it.  Unfortunately, you'll be dealing with crappy group-mates for the rest of your life.  This problem is not likely to stop after college.  Take it as an exercise in time management and when the time to review your group comes, be honest and say that you did the whole project your self.

In my experience, group projects get much better junior/senior year-- just make sure you get enough friends in your department that are competent.  Most of the people who can't pull their weight will drop out.

pro tip: mark your targets before you shoot-- that way if the other guy is gunning for you, a team mate can knock him out if you miss

Does anyone have thoughts on exactly how much cap is going to milk us for?
One a year-- that works, right?

It is never wrong from a consumer viewpoint for games to be available on multiple platforms.  I never thought people would so blatantly complain about having a convenient choice or being able to talk to more of their friends about a game.

Considering Square did not initially intend to release it as a cross platform title, I feel the port is actually fairly good.  The FMVs aren't eye-gougingly bad when you see them in motion-- regardless of what they look like in stills.  Aside from that, the 360 version has fewer frame rate issues than the PS3 version.

There is no way to speak too highly of the mortar strikes.  They are reason alone to play recon-- even if you grab a shotgun and play close range.  Add to this the ability to easily kill people trying to defuse, and it should be easy to see why people pick the class.  Now.. people that play recon and DON'T spam mortar strikes as often as they can are just hurting the team.

That said, on some maps about 8-10 good snipers on defense can stop offense from doing anything.

" Well i think  MW is to blame here. The KDR mentality of kill-to-death ratio being the most important metric of how good you are has done serious damage to cooperative shooter gameplay. Many people dont care if their team wins or not as long as their ratio is good. They will celebrate a high ratio game that they lost. I think there is no easy fix for this. "
MW in no way started this.  KDR has been a metric for how good people are at FPS since DOOM.  Whether or not it is accurate for any given game is up for debate.

The problem is that this 'brilliant move' is really just taking the PC scene backwards in technology over two decades.  In fact, I'd be more comfortable if we had dedicated servers on the 360.  At least that way the subscription would pay for something.

I was already struggling with a justification with the PC purchase because I know they wont balance the weapons for the platform (nub tub anyone?)

It's been a sad few years for the PC lately, mostly because the devs are dropping ship.  Honestly, what games does the PC faction have left to look forward to?  RTS?  MMOs?
The real issue, is that if us PC guys/gals haven't had 10+ years vested in our control scheme we wouldn't have any issues with FPS on console.  Unfortunately, newer gamers will dictate the market-- they think halo is the best shit ever.  To be completely blunt, Halo was a bad game in comparison to the FPSs on PC when it came out.  My guess is that most of the people that would say otherwise weren't familiar with the PC scene back then.
