Thanks for the feedback guys, I think I'm going to go with the Radeon 5670 as suggested in the tested forums. Seems like a solid upgrade from the 8800 GTS for a low price that will be good for the time being.
My 8800GTS has served me well these past years but it's dying. I was playing BF:BC2 the other day when everything went white mid-match and upon exiting the game, I had a diagonal line across my monitor of an okay image on one part and a completely glitched out image on the other. My bios bootup now has artifacts on it. I can boot into safe mode without an issue but I need to replace my card.
Now, I'm planning on doing a much more substantial revamp on my pc when Intel sorts out it's Sandy Bridge mess and settles on a socket at which point I'll probably get a 500 series Fermi card but that will be later in the year. I'm looking for something under $90 that will be a decent lateral move or slight upgrade to help me hold out. I would just get another 8800 GTS but they're not really instock most places with new ones being very scarce and overpriced at this point.
It should be noted that my motherboard is currently PCI-E 1.0 or 1.1 but the majority of 2.0 cards should work just fine on them (especially considering I'm not looking for a bleeding edge card). Thanks for any help! It's appreciated.
I work with a Wacon tablet with a pretty decent sized surface. For a laugh I tried playing a game on and was not particularly crazy about it. There's also a battery-free wacom mouse that works with the tablet that I wasn't into.
I'm curious to try gaming with a Cintiq as I think that would work way better than a tablet.
I don't use Kotaku so much but I do regularly check out Lifehacker and Jalopnik which also got the gawker redesign and personally I'm not into it. It looks like it was designed for the iPad.
In kindergarten I borrowed a copy of Donkey Kong for the NES for a friends Tiger Electronics Castlevania (possibly Ninja Gaiden) handheld game and I was never able to get it back. I still hear about from my brother every couple of years.
I had the two gigs of ram problem and the latest patch fixed. After that, it wasn't exceedingly great in the performance area but it was okay and didn't crash on me after that.
I preferred using the 360 controller except in a couple parts where you had to snipe people at which point I switched to the mouse.
Bully is definitely my favorite Rockstar Game of all time as I've owned it on PS2, 360 and PC. The first 360 game I ever S-Ranked.
Twice. Played the first time with my paragon save on pc and immediately on completing that I started again on my Renegade save on pc. I completed the game twice in under 10 days, the first time I've ever played a game again immediately after I finished. And I have to say, Renagade was more fun.
