I played through this game in Japanese, and yeah, I don't like the English VO from what I am hearing here.

There are a lot of people saying that the game is great but not as good as the 2016 game, and I'm in the same boat, but I think I came away from the experience saying mostly the same things as others, just feeling a bit more disappointed in it. I didn't have as much of an issue with aiming when on controls, but when it comes to knowing where to place dash, that can become tricky. I had already finished the game with custom controls, but the last time I went back I changed it up a bit and found that it was quite hard to figure what I preferred. In a way, you want to put the dash onto a button that'll allow you to press it when you're both moving and looking (you can't look around when you have to move your thumb off the stick to press B), so I placed it on both LB and L3, but it doesn't feel perfect.

@nateandrews: You can shoot the Marauder twice, at least, when his shield is down if you're quick. I've done it in each fight with him. It doesn't make the fight any better mind you but I thought you should know. It's also worth mentioning, twice I was able to cheese him. I don't know what's up with it, but when it comes to enemies, if you're a certain distance away from them, or out of sight (not sure which one), they can die. In the heaven map, I was running around trying to find ammo and health and then turned around to see where the Marauder was; he was nowhere to be found so I went searching, and once I 'found' him, all that was left was health coming my way because he died somehow. The second was when I had enough of the gore nest that has you attempt to kill him in 30 seconds; I ran away and the same thing happened and I beat the challenge. And yes, I was convinced he could just die by a BFG kill because in the last level I used a BFG on a bunch of enemies as I tried to stay away from him, and I took out most enemies, leaving only a few left, but the Marauder was gone too so I assume he died from the BFG shot which surprised me.

Anyone know whether this game, on the Xbox One X, will be in 4k and utilize HDR? From what I understand, the developers intentionally took aspects from other games, like Hollow Knight, to make their game better. I'm not sure if they ever said Hollow Knight specifically, but similar games that came out since the first game. I should probably go back to Hollow Knight. I liked it and played quite a lot of it, but I lost interest in the type of game and moved onto something else. This was relatively recent. That said, the muted color palette compared to a game like Ori doesn't quite appeal to me as much. I mean, I did like it as it adds to the atmosphere, but after a while it makes me seek something more vibrant like Ori. In March alone, there are so many new games to play.

I've been playing the remasters since they first released (without three, four and five at first). I started with Kiwami, went through Kiwami 2, then 0 and after with three, four and now five. I think that's a good order too. I'm on five currently; about 30 something hours in. These games are great. Decent enough stories, but very similar throughout. It gets hilarious how it is structured and always ends on top of a skyscraper with characters tearing their shirts off for a final battle. The characters are great: Kiryu and Majima are some of my favorites in recent memory.

The combat is okay, but not what I go to these games for. After the first game, combat for the entire series just became something that got in the way for me. It can be goofy fun at times though. I am there for the story and the world as well as humorous side stuff. I wish that at this point it was optional, where you could somehow talk your way around it in certain situations because it's predictable and I just sigh every time now. Five is the first game to introduce new, integral gameplay mechanics that don't revolve around melee combat, which is hunting, and even more so, dancing/singing. I don't enjoy them though. I do like, however, that it has a lot of trivia stuff.

I stopped playing five for now as I got Anthem, but I'll go back to it at some point. I'm excited to finish Kiryu's story. Exploring and getting to know the locations you visit, as well as seeing the characters grow throughout the series is something I've enjoyed. I'll be kind of sad once I'm done seeing Kamurocho in subsequent games. Six is of course next. I'm not sure if I'll get Judgment, but probably 7 at some point.

Dang, wow. Time goes fast. I swear it was like, two years ago that he left Game Informer (and two years ago wasn't 2014). Where is he going now, Kinda Funny, MinnMaxShow? It may be hard to tell, but I was joking. Good luck to him.

I tried playing Outer Wilds on the Xbox One X because I saw a lot of people gushing about the experience, and maybe it gets good, but nowadays, I don't want to delve into games that don't grab me within the first two hours or so, and Outer Wilds just didn't do it. I bounced off it and Life is Strange 2 pretty fast. I liked Life is Strange 1, but in two, the writing and voice work was just mediocre to me; it didn't seem to bother me in the first game. As seen by Lionsy, Outer Wilds isn't on PC, but I was wondering if everyone was playing on PC that enjoyed it because technically the game isn't great on even the X; I guess people get over it though.

I feel like a curmudgeon because all the top games of the year I was more down on, and/or unenthusiastic about than I was positive. For every 'that is impressive', there is a 'but'. My favorite game of the year is probably still The Division 2. I was disappointed in it as I went through it (the first game is my favorite game this generation if I had to choose, so a lot to live up to), but several patches including a FOV slider, neutral lighting which helps immerse me in its world, and just playing more end game stuff, I came to like it a lot. It's the game I'll go back to because I enjoy it, rather than an attempt to enjoy it more, seeing if something clicks.

Playing on the X. Brad's issues I agree with. I've had some of them too. One he didn't mention in which I just had, and annoyed me was that I killed a bunch of different enemy types in an open battle area on Kashyyyk, I ended the fight with one hit left to die, I progressed forward and a spider killed me in a QTE. I didn't get the game over screen, Cal simply stood up as the spider stood there in its stationary animation and I could only move the camera. I had to quit back to the main menu and it made me do the entire battle again. That said, if I had died and it hadn't glitched, I'd probably still have had to do the battle again, which sucks regardless. I will say yes, the issues are there, but they're not too intrusive to me that I'd personally, at least right now, give it a three out of five. I see where he's coming from though. I wasn't someone that had the utmost excitement for this game, but I thought it was probably going to be good enough to get, and I'm not disappointed. I don't love it, but it's good.

I'd be really interested to see/hear a discussion between staff from different places, from those that liked the game and those that didn't.

Looks awesome. It looks very similar, just with a few welcome additions that should make the encounters potentially even more interesting. It saddens me that you have to/can kill dogs, but I think it adds to the sadness of the world the game portrays. To me, just about everything in the first game was exceptional, so I'm very excited to play this one.
