Games Completed in 2011

Note that I said "completed" and not "beat" as, nowadays, it's getting harder and harder to determine the point when one beats a game. I mean, can you really ever beat Bejeweled or Super Scribblenauts or Animal Crossing: Wild World? No, maybe not. But you can complete them to a certain percentage and then feel satisfied at what you accomplished. And so here's where I'm going to keep tabs on what's been cleared out of my backlog...

1. Dead Rising 2: Case Zero

It sure did take a long time to kill 1,000 zombies with a newspaper and some casino poker chips.
2. Fallout: New Vegas

Sided with Yes Man. Talked my way to total domination. Can't wait to play it again.
3. Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection

Unlocked all Achievements for this one, but did not actually complete every game within the collection. Still, getting some of these Achievements was hard work, and it's gonna count towards my 2011 completion goal because it couldn't have been all for nought.
4. Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies

The quest is complete. The game is never over.
5. Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood

Awesome single-player experience, as well as a surprisingly fun online multiplayer (when the servers are working). Might have to go pick up Assassin's Creed II now to keep me fixed until Assassin's Creed III drops.
6. Super Scribblenauts

I've used up all my adjectives in the game to actually write anything about it here. Sorry!
7. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game

Used the Power of Love to defeat the Gideon of Evil. Oh, and spamming the X button like crazy.
8. Halo 3: ODST

Find a group of enemies, shoot and hide, shoot and hide, watch cutscene, repeat. Boo to this.
9. Torchlight

Mash that attack button, mash that heal all button, mash that collect loot button, mash until you can mash no more.
10. X-Men

Welcome to die! Ha ha ha. You are dead! Ha ha ha! Welcome to...dead! You are dead!
11. Monster Tale

Finished with 78.3% unlocked, and adult Chomp leveled up to 30. Difficult at the very end, but a fun game overall.
12. Pilotwings Resort

A whole lot of flying around and not much else to do. Decent game, but it would've been considered stellar if it came free with the Nintendo 3DS like Wii Sports did for the Wii.
13. Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge

Point, click, look up solutions on the Internet. Absolutely loved this funny, funny game. Gotta go back and play the original now.
14. Costume Quest

A little too much like "Baby's First RPG," but it's too dang charming not to love. My favorite costume to use in battle was the French Fry.
15. Picross 3D

Completed 345 main game puzzles, as well as around thirty or so downloaded ones. A fantastic and addicting puzzler.
16. A Kingdom for Keflings

Very chill, very relaxing game. My kingdom is a total mess, but it functions nonetheless.
17. Ratchet: Deadlocked

Had a blast going back to the PlayStation 2 for this one. I thought it was gonna suck do to the lack of platforming, but the runnin' and gunnin' was just as satisfying. Favorite weapon and mod: mini turrets with morph mod.
18. Back to the Future: The Game - Episode 1: It's About Time

A lot of fun, a lot of great references. Relatively easy puzzles, but I was sucked in by the story and great dialogue.
19. LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game

Much stronger than LEGO Batman and both LEGO Indiana Jones, and just as addicting with so much to collect and unlock.
20. Red Faction: Guerrilla

Uninspired storyline, but man oh man is it fun toppling towers into buildings with that nano rifle.
21. Yard Sale Hidden Treasures: Sunnyville

An okay "find the hidden objects" game, but I'm emotionally attached to it for depressing reasons.
22. Super Mario Land

Really short, but still some solid Mario platforming.
23. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1

The Nintendo DS version. Pretty horrible. Laughingly bad writing, editing, and gaming elements.
24. L.A. Noire

A truly great adventure title that evokes real detective work over car chases and shootouts. Sure, those are here, too, but it's not the focus. The story and characters and lies they tell is what will be sticking with me for many years.
25. Portal

Going through holes like it's my job. Wish every level was like the final test chamber.
26. Bastion

Gorgeous game.
27. Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Worst stealthy playthrough ever. Missed a ton of sidequests, too. Will try again, but just gonna shoot anyone that gets in Jensen's way. Seems simpler.
28. The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures

Well, not the GameCube version, but the one ported to the 3DS and given away as a freebie. Am currently now playing some of the retro-themed levels and loving it.
30. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

The main quest is severely underwhelming, but at least it's out of the way, and now I can focus on becoming a master thief.
31. Professor Layton and the Last Specter

Super sad, but super fun, too. Those puzzles can be quite addicting, and I loved seeing how Luke and Professor Layton became friends.
32. Half-Life 2: Episode One

Had to skip finishing Half-Life 2 due to a glitch, so story-wise, this was confusing, but still fun to play. Love when the gravity gun got enhanced enough to toss bodies around.
