  I am Canadian.  I have no idea where the aboot thing comes from I have never heard of it. I call corndogs corndogs. I don't have bagged milk though I remember it from when I was a kid. I think it really depends on which part of Canada you are from for these so called differences. Most American stereotypes that I have heard of I haven't seen when travelling in the States or abroad. Americans are very nice.

I'd say check the power cables. When I was installing my 5850 I wasn't getting a display out of it and the fan was going but super loud. I plugged an additional power cable into the card and it started working.

@Fragstoff:  thanks for the response

I think I figured out the issue, i bumped the power up on the RAM to its recommended amount and changed its latency to what it is supposed to be and I got through the install.

Now my system is up and running though  may have some issues but as I install software it seems to be getting better *fingers crosses*

Hi all,

I am trying to install windows 7 on a basically new machine and am running into issue.  Part way through the install usually at the checking for updates part it just freezes.
I have tried a variety of settings in the bios and unplugging or plugging in things to try and get it to work. I disabled the floppy drive (which I don't have) and that seemed to help the install go faster.
I tried taking out a stick of ram, not using any thing usb, etc. I have disabled the onboard graphics, formatted the drive, etc

Any suggestions. How would I know if there is hardware problem? Is it worth trying to install without the graphics card?

My system:
PS: 535 or 565 W - can't remember exactly
MB: GA-890GPA-UD3H
RAM: 4GB - could timing or power be an issue?
Processor: AMD X4 965
Video card: AMD 5850
