As soon as I saw this topic, I thought of the same thing as the OP. That Normandy beach level in Medal of Honor Frontline blew me away. And it really did become the blueprint for all of the "crazy stuff going on all around you" scenarios we see in FPS nowdays (basically the entire MW2 single player game).
