Does anyone remember the podcast episode where Vinny was talking about Rob the Robot, or Rob the Racer? It was some kind of kids show or toy with a jingle that got stuck in his head, and he was singing it during the podcast in a bit of a half-hearted way. I really want to go back and get a clip of that part, but I have no idea where to start. Obviously, it is sometime in the last 3-4 years, but beyond that I have nothing.
I would use this for single player games quite a bit. Multiplayer and coop are a bit more difficult since I'd probably want to be playing with the people on my friends list which would require separate purchases.
That 2000 monsters achievement in Risen 2 is just horrible. If it wasn't for the 100k miles Tales of Vesperia achievement (which I actually bothered to get, for whatever reason), it would've the poorly-conceived one I saw in 2012. For context, I hit the much more reasonable 500 kills right near the end point, and only a handful of enemies ever respawn in that game. So, yeah, four playthroughs.
Anyway, these are always fun. I like that there's a whole mess of achievements no-one managed to get. Are you following it up with an inaugural (and final) PS3 trophies rundown?
Yes, yes it is. I got that one while home with the flu and it was all I could do to stay awake. I just used the save at the end of the game right before the boss fight since the game tracks stats even when you reload prior saves.
@ElCapitan: Agreed. This is probably one of the easiest things for them NOT to fuck up, so it's amusing to see people latch on to this right away as a bug.
I'm on my first game on normal/ironman, so no reloads except the few times the game has frozen. I had a terror mission that kept freezing at the end of the aliens' turn that I was only able to get past by somewhat recklessly uncovering much more of the map/chryssalids than I cared to at once.
I am OK with losing the game as I figure out how things work, but I've had 3-4 amazing missions where all seemed lost for 1 or more of my main guys before pulling off some heroics. It's the type of situation that makes you feel like a true badass, so, no, I don't plan on reloading any saves in the future and giving that up as those have been the best moments of the game for me.
And for the record, I don't think they are doomed in the immediate future. The most cynical side of me thinks that it will be a slow, painful death. The optimistic side of me thinks that Giant Bomb will slowly absorb GameSpot and change company culture to the point we won't care if they become the same entity because it's being run the same way the site is now.
This is where I fall. I've been following the site for a few years now, and at the very least hope to get a couple more good years from the guys. If something happens at that point, it's been a good run and nothing lasts forever.
I'm also a little put off by the overwhelming positive attitude, but it can't be any other way. Either everyone is truly that happy about it, or the move was a necessity to keep doing what they enjoy.
