@dezinus: I really don't think they could have done the DLC.

I'm pretty sure Sam's DLC can only be done on Revengeance or Hard difficulty and it's got whole new mechanics such as how you charge your blade. So I don't think they'd ever get this done.

Blade Wolf's DLC is just terrible although the boss fight has the best song in the game I think.

I mean...credit to Platinum for making a game that at it's easiest can be completed by people who have no idea what the mechanics are. It was really cringeworthy seeing Drew ask "What's the yellow flash mean?" in the finale and watching how easy the end of this game was. I'd really hoped Sundowner would be the one to defeat them, his shield mechanic would mean that the usual flail the sword wildly mechanism wouldn't work but apparently it did meaning they never got to see his true form. Think the game should have made them learn and try the precision cutting thing there. Hardest challenge really was Monsoon I'd say because he just weaves away unless you use a chaff or something.

Maybe Drew will revisit it in his personal time and just play for fun at a higher difficulty.

Gutted they never tried Mistral's staff because it's dope!

@flasaltine: He actually bought it at the start of this I think.

"Defensive Offensive" It moves you sideways while attacking and has Invincibility Frames. Of course none of them stopped to look at how to do any of those moves so... its on them.

Gutted they didnt buy Mistrals weapon! Its super fun!

Hmm...don't politics intervene in every area of life? It can affect any industry via wages and policies, it affects the practicalities of living for people.

It's like...to me it's like people are asking the impossible when they ask them to stick to video games. Go back to the Japanese interment in WWII. If something like that was to happen now and a Japanese member of GB staff disappeared from the guys' lives kinda abruptly would I expect them not to talk about it because it's not video games? Even if it's just expressing sympathy?

It's an inevitable part of life right? It'd be impossible to go on ignoring it when huge events happen. I wouldn't blame the GB guys from talking about it, hell I wouldn't blame a small-town baking newsletter from talking about it. I think it's inevitable for any area of news to avoid mentioning it in some capacity (and it's pretty small here, hardly a political discussion) no matter how focused that news outlet is meant to be.

@jetmet: Again I'd say that's a subjective matter. For a while I was really frustrated that there was nearly nothing to deal with fairy types but it makes what is otherwise quite an easy game challenging at times. However I liked having to switch things up from time to time, it forced me to use new pokemon and experiment rather than just use the same pokemon. At times they try and be helpful and even trade you a useful pokemon before the trial you take on.

The most planning I really had to do was "Hmm I really hate Zubats...lets make a Jolteon to kill them." I think it's just a general rule in pokemon games that you try and have as much type coverage as possible.

I don't think railroading is always so bad. Depends on the format an expectations, I felt like they were trying to tell a more structured story and the narrative of you attending an almost pilgrimage-style journey around the islands meant the tighter journey was appropriate.

While I don't think it's necessarily always true I think in most cases it ends up that the more open a game is the less detailed and cohesive a story there will be so rather than seeing it as a downside I think of it as more of a definitive choice.

@alex @vinny Love the thought of Alex getting his own series! I'd love it if the series went onto cover the X series of games or even the Zero games or EVEN THE ZX GAMES! THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS!

@zaldar: Hold up.

When do you think Castlevania is set? You acknowledge this was how people talked long ago and there's nothing to indicate the game is set in the modern era. Plenty of swords, magic and other things to indicate the game is set in the middle ages.

It makes perfect sense in the game world for people to talk like that if the game is set in the middle ages.

Man...I respect Vinny's choice but I myself am disappointed in how this all went down. They both recognised it was broken and was sucking some of the fun out of it. Vinny's commented several times like he felt no sense of achievement because of it. He justified it by calling himself a content tourist and then they proceeded to talk over what little "content" they covered with Alex telling a story right over the talk with Death. I just wanted to reach through the screen and hush him at that point. Even when they beat Drac they were still talking a fair bit through his death throes. I'm not saying they can't talk over cutscenes but hey weren't talking about the content even. My heart lifted when I saw him switch to the basilard and give Dracula a chance at a fair fight which actually turned out to be challenging. I thought we might be in for a proper finale to Vinnyvania but one death later and it's back to the shield.

I was glad Vinny's stopped listening to the chat at a certain point. If it hadn't been for that he may never have discovered the dumb shield trick as it's pretty obscure and then been able to beat the game his way and possibly felt more satisfaction from it.

Still overall a very enjoyable Vinnyvania and I'm glad he had a good time with it for the most part.

@Vinny I hope you go onto try Aria/Dawn of Sorrow and maybe Order of Ecclesia. I know some of them are handhelds but I feel they capture the spirit of SoTN perfectly.
