Look, I'm younger than 15 and have never been in to all the ~~hip popular~~ youtubers and games, and have always been in search of more intelligent coverage about the vidyas. I've never, and won't for a while, been/be able to pay for Premium.
These guys deserve the 5$ a month in a crumbling ad market, not at all helped by idiots like PewDiePie making rape jokes in front of the ~new~ ~~hip~~ games. Vinny and Drew deserve it alone, they desperately try to take part in most of the content, while still running almost everything behind the scenes (I believe there was someone else who helps, too?).
GB is pretty much the only medium you can find for game content these days, either informative, srsbsnz places like GameSpot or IGN, or people like NerdCubed who mainly joke around. GB has a variety of less serious content, and fairly intelligent, analytical content.
That said, I don't know how you don't find Jeff's opinions interesting, at the very least. I frequently find myself checking his tumblr, I once read through all of his formspring stuff, and watched Points (yes, both episodes). You might not agree with him, I don't on a lot of things, but I mean he's an interesting guy who has an interesting perspective on games in general.
You said it yourself that the 5$ is pocket change, the GB crew would deserve it even if there wasn't any subscription content. They're running a fucking site with 4 dudes who lost one of their founding members. It seems fairly petty to be like "they don't deserve my 5$" just because they don't push out enough content that you think they should.
