How long did it take you to get used to the combat in FS? I played through the demo and at first I thought the combat was horrible for the exact reasons you described, but I maybe kinda sorta got used to it by the end... I'm not really sure I did. I learned the Downthrust move and found that pretty helpful, I'm wondering if some other moves you learn make the combat feel a bit better.

The things that bothers me the most is that I can't just hold down and press attack to do a thrust, I have to press down and attack at almost the same time. This is not how my brain is wired to work with these simple button commands. Like when I jump, I'm holding down, then press attack when I'm over an enemy aaand... I do a normal attack instead of a Downthrust because I was holding down too soon :/

I also could never get the Down X, X, Forward X combo to work at all...

All I can say it... you should play the other routes :P

PS: I felt the same way after doing my first run through, thinking that I wouldn't be able to detach myself from what I've seen before etc. Just give yourself a little time to get over it and try a different route. Maybe you'll like it more, maybe less, but in the end nothing will happen to the one you played first.

Sigh... well I don't think I'll be playing Katawa Shoujo for a while -_-

I finished Hanako's route yesterday, and finished her 2 bad endings today. Like I said in my previous post, this just hit a little too close to home for me. I really liked Hanako and I can't bring myself to think about any other heroine at this point because of it...

And I get what you mean by the endings being a little... abrupt and without closure. SPOILER: So Hisao and Hanako settle their misunderstandings and are on their way to be a happy couple. We get a nice scene of Hanako kissing Hisao aaannndd.... nothing? What about their plans for the future? What about writing the letter to Iwanako? What about Lilly? How will she react to the situation? I think this could REALLY use an epilog of some sort, like a month later, or 6 months later in January when they're nearing graduation. All that tank about brining closure to a relationship and we're left hanging.

That said I still enjoyed reading it way too much for my own good. IDK what to do with myself now.
