@grelik: With the amount of people flowing in after Patrick's features, activity has not been a problem.

@kagato: The very best thing you'll ever do in EVE is to not get attached to ships. They are tools for a job, and you're gonna lose a lot of them!

@shadowbladeedge:

Nyx Undock was scheduled for 1900 EVE time, we formed up at 17:45, and left our home system for the 13 jump journey at around 18:20. Ingress was completely clear which is very very odd, but we got almost everyone in and on a safespot (random point in space) about 15 mins prior to the festivities, I think we lost one duder on the gate to some rats and a sly rookie ship. We began our warp to the station about 3 minutes prior to undock, and actually managed to land near the Nyx almost as soon as it became vulnerable(about 4-5 mins of warping later). Time Dialation had ramped up to the full 90% slowdown just before we started warping, so everything was extremely slow. The video above is sped up to show what realtime should look like.

We managed to get 22 duders on the Nyx killmail although many of us died about 20-30 mins into the fight. Around that time the Nyx received a huge bump and ended up coasting 30-40 Km off the station, stringing out the DPS and everyone started shooting one another because that's what was left in range. Between BS smart bombs, sniping players and people close in picking up easy kills, only a few of us were left at the end. At about 19:30-19:45 Pandemic Legion warped in 25ish logistics(healer) ships and started repairing the Nyx, and another group landed 40ish Tech 3 strategic cruisers on grid and really started decimating the DPS. This caused the damage to hang at around 75% armor for about the next 45 minutes. After a bit of discussion the Nyx pilot decided it was time to self destruct, usually a 3 minute affair stretched out to 20 minutes under max TiDi. At this point most of the KiteCo fleet had dispersed, and I ended up orbiting right into the heart of the tech 3 swarm and got blasted(manually flying is a bitch in TiDi), leaving the system in my pod shortly after the Nyx exploded.

All in all it was a ton of fun to see such a huge fight, and a bit of a shame someone had to come spoil the fun, but such is the sandbox. You build a sandcastle, its pretty likely someone will come by and kick it over!

@bombbandit: Any tipped profession can pay as little as $2.13 per hour by federal minimum wage law, no need to be off the books. If you don't make tips to cover the rest of the federal minimum (or local minimums if higher) the employer must make up the difference. Of course, if you're consistently not getting enough tips to make up for that minimum wage, you probably won't have a job.

That's really what some people don't understand about why we tip, its written into the rules that companies can pay their employees basically nothing as long as they're considered a tipped wage profession and the tips they earn get them to at least minimum wage. Its why restaurants frequently add in a 15-20% gratuity automatically on tables of 6 or more, because the waitstaff will be spending a lot of time at that table typically, and if they get stiffed on the tip it hurts the restaurant because that server will probably come up short of their minimum for the day otherwise.

I love the people who live here and refuse to tip on principal, you're not changing shit, just hurting someone trying to make a living, so congratulations on that.

I'm happy with the current premium membership arrangement. Ad free site is not only a perk I enjoy, but probably one the staff likes as well, placing ads into my user experience seems like it might be counter intuitive as someone who enjoys the content and pays for it. Additionally I feel like the content I consume on this site meets and exceeds my premium membership price, this is really the best of all worlds as far as a content site is concerned IMO. I forgive the twitch opening ad as it's more a service issue than anything else.

@snail: Ah yes his brand, well he certainly doesn't seem to remember those events, certainly he doesnt remember giving anna up nor her pinky being cut off, and when he and Elizabeth talk about it in a specific scene he reveals his dead wife, but refuses to discuss his child. Thats the one opportunity they had really to allow him any foresight into the events, he clearly is having memory issues if that's the case.

Edit: I think I found it browsing a wiki page, Robert Lutece does give him the opportunity to retrieve his daughter, but its handwaved away as such: "After languishing in remorse for nearly twenty years, Booker re-encountered Robert Lutece, who along with Rosalind Lutece offered him the chance to travel to Columbia and retrieve her. Booker then entered Comstock's reality, but the effects of entering a different reality wiped his memory—thus his mind created new memories."

So the memory wipe would have occurred when he entered Comstock's reality, either through the lighthouse door, or through some other tear we're not privy to before the rowboat scene.

Perhaps surprisingly the whole part of non-baptized Booker's actual memories from his own timeline, between giving away Anna and the end of the story, is what seems a bit murky to me. It seems a bit weird that, until the conclusion, he seemingly does not recall seeing Annabelle fade through a tear, as well as the sight of his daughter lose her pinky (which you'd think is something he wouldn't forget). I also don't understand how Booker was just dragged through a tear to the boat that leads him to the lighthouse, and never stops to wonder how on earth he got there. We just have to accept that he suppressed some memories over the course of his 18-or-so year long depressed drunken stupor, right? Which I guess makes sense after all, but it's a part of the story that's flown by a bit oddly.

So this part kinda confused me for a bit too, unless you take it in a different context. As soon as Booker enters another world he starts processing memories from that world's counterpart, piecing together the events slowly, or struggling to create those memories. The Booker we play, from the opening, may be a Booker from a reality where there is simply no Annabelle. Thus he is still in gambling debt and needing to "bring the girl to new york" to satisfy his gambling debt through the Luteces. When later in the game he is shown another version of the events, one in which he hands over his daughter to Robert Lutece in exchange for paying off his debts, he struggles with that memory creation as well.

As for the opening scene this also makes sense. The Luteces allow this reality's Booker a way out of his debt(different from the Booker who gave up his daughter to Comstock), to go and retrieve a girl he does not currently know. The later realities are only known to player character Booker at the time they are finally revealed, and then he remembers all of what he has done in that reality as well. In addition, I interpreted the initial dimensional travel as having happened when Booker steps through the initial lighthouse door, much like the later scenes transport an individual to a specific place in another reality when they step through.
