So I was already buying this. Is it possible to buy something harder? I think I'll just slam my card details into Amazon harder and punch the courier in the face when he gets here.
I haven't bought DLC in ages, and I'd say that's down to the fact that there are a whole slew of great downloadable titles out there at a similar price point. I mainly prefer those new experiences to the expansion of existing ones that DLC typically provides.
Grandia is a bizarre game, nostalgia I think is making my current play-through a much sweeter experience than I think it really is, which seems to be the case with a lot of PS1 RPGs that I've recently played through. The voice acting is strange, simply because it appears very sporadically, and sometimes for very short periods (JUSTIN!....YOU TRAITOR!).
Good to see this write-up though, it pretty much nails most of the highs and lows of the game so far.
I agree with a lot of the folk here saying that editorial and news articles need to be distinguished a bit, though I don't think I'm quite as angry as some about it.
The article itself puts me in two minds, as it's a subject I feel strongly about. I agree with (what I hope is) the sentiment of the article, in that companies thinking that we as consumers are such base creatures as to buy anything that is being advertised by a woman, regardless of the relevance that woman has to the product. I find that in itself rather insulting, and a negative representation of the video game industry to the rest of the world.
On the other hand, this article is a little bare without more in the way of interviews from the 'booth babes' and companies that employ them. Perhaps it's something that could be expanded on in the future, as this seems to be a topic a lot of people have some good opinions on. It's definitely one of the more commented stories I've seen on this site, which is great.
I'm seeing a number of people say that this is a bit of a risk on Ubisoft's part, I think it's quite brilliant. A lot of consumers, myself included, have been clamouring for a major new IP for a while now, and this is just the thing. It's already generated tons of buzz everywhere, I just hope that it's for this generation not the next. Either way, well played Ubisoft.
